Advice for future brides
Hello ladies, With 4 days left until the wedding, I thought I would jump on and complain....no j/k. But while it's fresh in my mind, I thought I would pass on some last minute advice. This week has been full of cleaning house, wrapping out of town baskets, favors, coordinating communication, etc. etc. and it's been okay. HOWEVER! If you think some of your guest stink now, just WAIT! Let's see...2 days ago I found out someone was bringing a date (one of the 40 who hadn't RSVPed ever, I spoke to on the phone, and said he was coming but never mentioned bringing a date), yesterday someone says that they are coming by themselves because they don't want to leave their baby with a family friend, another couple RSVPed that they were coming this morning, but the worst part has been my OOT guests. Okay....here is the story. I have made these nice baskets for everyone. Two weeks ago, 1 week after the "make reservations by" date, I got the "Final List." This final list is the biggest lie. Every time I turn around another couple is reserving rooms. 4 days left and 2 more rooms are getting reserved tonight. What does all this mean? Not enough baskets! I got these baskets at IKEA, ran around to get all the fills, got personalized M&M's for only 40 baskets, and now, I have to wait for the day before my wedding to find out the final number to make sure everyone has enough. I can't say well I just won't give it to them because if they show up before the other guests, then the other guests don't get anything.
So really what am I trying to say? I don't know I guess, for OOT baskets, assume people will wait until the week before and make plenty extra. Even though you call people to follow up on their RSVP, expect at least 2 or 3 to not show up/ change their responses/ etc. and of course, the best....people got upset I didn't get them directions from their house to the reception site since they aren't going to the ceremony. Oh and expect to want to hurt at least a dozen of your guests before the night is out

Re: Advice for future brides
oh sorry to hear that! I know its hard but try and forget about their RUDENESS and just enjoy every minute of the wedding with the people that do show up. Its not your fault if they don't get a basket--its nice of you to even do that.
Sending you and early congrats!!!

I agree you can only do so much! relax- not worth it
it they reponsed in time they would have gotten everything they needed
I called everyone who didn't respond- and there were a few we couldn't track down- so I decided F them- if the show up- one of my BM is going to ask them why they think they should have a escort card if they didn't respond
I give up!

Re: Advice for future brides
I have definitely heard more than once that the week before your wedding is nuts!!
But try not to worry too much... it will all be behind you soon and before you know it you will be sipping champagne with your groom at the reception!!!

Re: Advice for future brides
I had the same issue with people booking the hotel at the last minute but I kinda had a feeling that would happen.
I didn't have anyone change their minds at the last minute about bringing dates, so that was cool. We did have about 4 people cancel though. Two of them were for very valid reasons that were not expected and I know they felt terrible having to cancel. But, there are 2 more cancellations we got from people who just had no consideration for us. I'm sure they'll get what they deserve, somehow. They already missed a great wedding!
Ok, I will get off my soapbox now!
I wish I wasn't so jet lagged.

Re: Advice for future brides
Whoa!!!! I can't help but laugh because I know I'm gonna go thru the same sh1t. I have one guest who still can't make up his mind on whether or not he is coming, and FFIL invited 2 more people 2 days ago. What the hell?!?!?!?!?!
I fell your pain and I'm a 2 weeks behind you.
