Donations as Wedding Favors
Anyone have any good ideas as to how to present donation wedding favors?I'm thinking of offering a donation option in the response card...let the guest choose between 3 charities that we've chosen...and then customize thier placecards with their choice somehow.

that's a great idea about letting the guests choose with charity to donate to! it will give you extra work, but it's a nice, thoughtful gesture!

Re: Donations as Wedding Favors
Our donation is in honor of my Dad so we will have a photo and message on the placecard table, explaining that in lieu of favors, a donation has been made.

We're pretty sure we're going with Make-a-Wish, and two that are in honor of our parents (diseases/disorders they've had - and thankfully survived)

Re: Donations as Wedding Favors
It's very nice but a lot of work. Plus, since there are 3 and 2 are personal choices that matter to you and FH you may want to donate evenly to all 3. FH and I thought about it but I didn't want guests to go empty handed and it started to get costly so we're making a small donation on our own. I love the idea tho!

Re: Donations as Wedding Favors
We did 2 donations, each to charities for diseases that have taken people close to us. At first I was going to do individual scrolls, but that became too much for me to deal with, so we just printed out a nice poem explaining our donations and put it on display near our head table in a frame.

We donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. I love your idea but maybe instead of including it in the response you could put a card at each placesetting at the wedding and have the guest choose. Then afterwards you can make your donation and include a card with the thank you to let them know.

Great ideas ladies! One question though, how do you begin to go about making a donation? Also, do they usually provide scrolls or something once you make a donation? TIA

You can look at the websites of the charities you're interested in and make donations online by CC. One of my friends donated to a children's charity - I forget which one - but they did provide pre-printed sheets of paper that we turned into scrolls tied with ribbon. From what I understand they were really nice to deal with.

I think save yourself the work of letting them choose and pick something close to your heart and print up a nice card for the table

We donated to St. Jude Children's Hospital as our favor, and to let the guests know, we made bookmarks. They came out nicely and it was a good way of letting them know.
