Is anyone tanning for the big day?
I used to compete in ballroom, and tanning was a necessity - I hated going to the beds (as you can see - I am crazy pale) and the whole time lying there I'd be thinking about skin cancer... So the only thing I don't miss about dancing is that...My future stepdaughter asked me if I was going to start tanning again for the wedding, and I really don't think I want to go thru that again - it would be nice not being pasty white - esp. since FH is so dark, but I don't know - has anyone put any thought into this?
I don't want to do the fake tan or spray thing either - did that once and the stuff was all over my clothes - definitely dont want orange rubbing off on my wedding gown!!!

Re: Is anyone tanning for the big day?
No. I am getting married in the dead of winter and would look ridiculous with a tan especially since I will not have gone to Hawaii yet.

Re: Is anyone tanning for the big day?
Absolutely without a question! However, there are great alternatives if you do not want to use the beds....there are some GREAT spray-on's where you won't get orange and obviously, skin cancer.

Re: Is anyone tanning for the big day?
I am having issues with this too. I am quite pale myself, and my skin just doesn't tan...so I thought I might go to the tanning bed for a few weeks to just get some color, but, like you - the whole time I think about how my skin is being ruined...all I really do is freckle.And...I HATE self-tanners...talk about a nightmare! I can't tell you how many clothes and sheets I have ruined by this stuff...it just doesn't work for me. Someone up above just does not want me to be tan!!
I think I may try the spray tanning, where someone else does it for you, before I go home for Xmas, that way if I look like a freak, only my family will know :)

Re: Is anyone tanning for the big day?
I may go tanning - which honestly I am terrified of (I am very low maintenance).I want a light color at least for the wedding. But also because when I have a little bit of a tan (versus no tan) I don't burn as easily (I am uber-pale), and we are HMing in Hawaii so it will help minimize my risk of super burn.

Re: Is anyone tanning for the big day?
I plan on tanning for about 2 months before the wedding. While it terrifies me - I'm painfully pale otherwise. And the spary tanning could rub off on the dress - or so I'm told!

Re: Is anyone tanning for the big day?
I'm pale skinned, so tanning should be something to consider, but cancer in a box is not my thing and neither is the self tanners. I rather look natural. JMO. I have never been a sun worshipper and I come from a family of boaters, go figure!

Re: Is anyone tanning for the big day?
I used to tan in the summer time but I did so rather carefully and for medical purposes. I have a tendency to develop psoriasis when there are quick changes in temperature. They leave red blotches and spots on my arms legs and sometimes back. If this happens near my wedding day, then I would have to retract my previous statement and tan to rid myself of an outbreak. Exposure to tanning lamps dries out my red blotches. And, if you think about it, tanning has more filters that block the harmful rays than the sun with a depleted ozone. Are either great for you? No. But I NEVER fried to the point of blistering in a tanning booth

Re: Is anyone tanning for the big day?
I am naturally tan but I will def go tanning before the wedding. I think my makeup looks better when I am tanner. I am also getting married not to far from summer.

Re: Is anyone tanning for the big day?
Yeah, I probably will start going about 2 months before the big day. Plus it will help if I have a little color before I go to Hawaii and fry!

I'm with you! FH says that me in the sun is like a fork in the microwave.
Not to be a downer, but I lost a close close friend to melanoma few years ago. It is not something I would wish on my worst enemy. If you must tan, get a regular derm check-up.

Re: Is anyone tanning for the big day?
I would definitley never tan...cancer and wrinkles scare the crap out of me.... I will be getting a spray tan(in a salon), and no it will not come off on my dress. You go about 3-4 days before the wedding, you cant shower or bath for 24 hours after untill it all sets and then it will wear off in a few weeks just like a regular tan. My advice is go try it BEFORE your day and see if you like it...

Re: Is anyone tanning for the big day?
I'm debating, because my skin clears up in the sun and when I tan, but I am scared to death of getting skin cancer (I have already had quite a few bad sunburns in my time.) That, and a friend's mother died a few years ago from skin cancer. She tanned often, whether it was in the sun or tanning beds. However, I do want to get some color before heading to Mexico. Since a BM and I will be going to Miami a few weeks before the wedding for bachelorette party #1, I am hoping that I will still have enough color to not look sickly on my wedding day!!
I'm not an advocate of tanning beds, because I've seen a lot of people 'overdose' on them. I'm talking about tanning to the point where their skin turns an unnatural shade of brown and so dry and wrinkly that they look 5-10 years older than they are.

Re: Is anyone tanning for the big day?
I will be tanning, but not too much. My wedding will be in May and I don't want to be way darker than everyone.... I just want to tan a little to soften by skin and give me a light glow.... if that makes sense...LOLWelcome New Vendors
