Cocktail Hour Music
What are you doing for cocktail hour music? are you having any? I definitely want something.. but I'm torn between just the Dj doing surround sound background music, getting a single musician or going all out & getting a calypso or jazz band (3 piece). I'm not sure if people even notice cocktail hour music or not...and if it is worth the extra money. What do you think? Also my cocktail hour room is split inside and outside... so where these people would be is also in question.. and unk if people inside would hear outside and vice versa.

Re: Cocktail Hour Music
We are having a band for our reception, so 2 pieces will be playing during the coctail hour (we picked the guitar and sax I think).I'm not sure what to do about it being inside and out though.

Re: Cocktail Hour Music
I think having the DJ is a fairly economical option.I had live ceremony music, but couldn't afford to have them stay for the cocktail hour as well.

Re: Cocktail Hour Music
I'm still undecided. My DJ will provide music at no additional charge but there is a beautiful piano in the area where the cocktailhour will be and I'd like to have a piano player but not sure about spending another few hundred on it.I have the same question...do people notice or pay attention to it?

Re: Cocktail Hour Music
We're having our reception at The Carltun as well and were having a hard time deciding what to do also. Our band ended up including a piano player for the CH, so we decided to go with that and use the extra $ towards something else.

Re: Cocktail Hour Music
We are having a keyboardist, someone who plays sax and flute, AND a violinist. So basically it is 4 pieces - 3 people for the cocktail hour. They are part of the band - 10 pieces in total.

Re: Cocktail Hour Music
We were all gung ho on a calypso band because our cocktail hour will be both inside and out also but then decided to spend the $ on a live singer for the dinner hour instead since I think it would be too loud to have the band inside if it rained. So now we are going to have the DJ do the surround music instead.

Re: Cocktail Hour Music
Thanks girls! I was also thinking that the calypso band could be too loud if it is set up inside too if it rains. And that option has also come up.. to have a singer for dinner instead of the band at the cocktail hour. I don't know why i am so confused about this. I haven't even decided on the DJ yet.. we are still in our search. The only thing I do know is that I want percussion added to the reception!

The musicians that are playing our ceremony are just staying to play the CH. We got the musicians through our DJ.

Re: Cocktail Hour Music
We had a piano player (part of the band we had for the reception) during the cocktail hour as our place had a grand piano there to use.And yes, you'll notice the music.
At least i did, i remember because it was really nice to hear it even though it really is just background
