June 30th Wedding Vendor Review (long)
Well, we did it. Tim and I were married last Saturday and I just got back from my short honeymoon. I know you guys are interested in the vendors, so here it goes: Hair - We used Monica from Wantagh whose name I got off these boards and she came on time to our house at 6:30 a.m. She was just terrific. We added a six yr. old flower girl who was my husband's niece the day before the wedding (as our Jr. Bridesmaid's parents couldn't guarantee they could be at our house before 8:30 am as they were coming from CT and did not want to get up real early, but they did arrive at 7:45 by going 80 miles an hr.) and Monica did their hair too. Six girls with great hair (we did our own makeup) and everyone commented how beautiful we all were, especially the flower girl! Flowers - We used Flowers by Lorraine in Massapequa. Again, super job! The flowers were so much more than I expected. I gave her photos of the bouquet I wanted and a photo of the centerpieces and they came out so much better than the photos. She even delivered the flowers herself and offered to change a corsage because it was not the right shade of blue. She even put together a basket for the flower girl when we called her at 2:00 p.m. Friday. (Got dress for the flower girl at 3:30 Fri. at Estelle's which fit perfectly and we had rehearsal dinner at 5:00, so we were really busy) Limo - All Star Limo. Our driver was great. He helped us through every step of the way with calm advice and precise instructions. PS - loved the balloon launch they did. Videotographer - Had an uncle with a sense of humor do it as we were on a budget. We couldn't have paid enough to have such a funny video. We were on the floor laughing with his comments on everybody and everything and we didn't have to fast forward once. Everyone wants copies!! Favors by Arleen did the favors which looked lovely and Party Planet did a super job on a balloon arch and place and table cards of various local lighthouses. DJ - John from Mikey Mike. Spectacular!!! We had looked at a lot of DJ's but decided to keep within a budget of under $1,200.00 We originally booked Invitation of Dance for a June 2002 date and they couldn't do it when we pushed up the date to this June. They gave us our deposit back and we booked John, but for the same price as Invitation, we also got lighting, give aways, 1 confetti burst - he surprised us with two, and the music for the cocktail hour. He did everything right, played the songs we wanted, and worked the crowd of 'let's just sit and watch' type of guests to get on the dance floor. I couldn't have asked for more - he was perfect and our guests all complimented us on the music. Chateau Le Mer - Excellent food, great view. The weather was 95 degrees and we couldn't use the tables outside as we would roast. But they set up the inside beautifully and the food was overkill - all of the out of town guests thought the cocktail hr. was the dinner. The only complaint is they cancelled the boat we were to arrive in and did not let us know. We were told a week before the boat was on, but we found out from a bride at the tux place Thursday that the boat had no insurance, and we had to scout around for place for photos in lieu of the boat the day before the wedding. I would have liked to have them call us or to have known sooner. Photographer - Patken in Lindenhurst. I left this for last as I was kind of upset with them. We had booked a photographer named Mark, spoke to him twice going over all the photos we wanted. Three days before the wedding a guy named Larry calls to confirm arrival time on Sat. as did the limos, flowers, etc. Since it wasn't Mark that called, I decide to go over there on Thursday only to find out that Larry was now my photographer and that Mark had been fired. I ask to meet with Larry, but was told there is no time and that he would go over photos the day of the wedding. Well, without going into boring details, we just had a communication problem all day long. Somehow, he never took photos of the throwing of the birdseed, the balloon launch, and us getting into the limo because we said we didn't want to go back inside the church for more photos or take the bridal party standing outside the church, but he took it has no more photos and packed up his equipment. We went over this with Mark, but on the day of the wedding it is too hectic and HOT to get into all the details of what photos to take and not to take. We felt bad for Larry that he had to work outside on a 95 degree day, but HE should of asked us more questions as to what photos we wanted. FINALLY, IN CONCLUSION... The wedding was a super success. It was better than I ever imagined. It was a day that I will never forget and well worth the hassles before hand. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have. Love, Jen.

Glad to hear you had a great day. We are using Mikey Mike as the MN and I am not sure about the DJ. Maybe we will ask for John.

Phone number of vendors
Thanks for all of your congratulations!!The answers to your questions are as follows - We paid $300 + 30 for car after reception plus 66 grat. for a total of 396.00 which includes 8 pass. limo for 3 hrs plus limo after reception to take us to the ferry. Mikey Mike Entrtainment - Phone #516-679-5353 and they are in Bellmore. We used John and he was the best DJ I have ever seen perform and I been to a lot of weddings. The large torch lamps were excellent and they threw those in for free. Monica is a hairstylist at Classix Hair Design in Wantagh and her phone # is 516-781-4424. She charges $75.00 per head to come to your home and $40.00 for the kids. She did a TERRIFIC job and was here on time at 6:30 a.m. I hope all your weddings are as great as mine turned out, and we did ours in 3 1/2 months. It was the best day of my life! Good luck to all of you. Love, Mrs. Jennifer ButterfieldWelcome New Vendors
