I am depressed...- need your opinions..UPDATE!! No longer depressed!! ...

I am having second thoughts about my wedding gown.....As you all know I ordered it and it will be coming in the end of Feb.

It is my dream gown...it is a gown I always saw myself in...but now I am having second thoughts about....

The dress is a beautiful ballgown Reem with gorgeous detail work. It is very full in the back with bustles and stuff.....I am 30 (I know I am old) and I feel I will look like a snowman with my big dress and veil (hint; My Big Fat Greek Wedding look). I feel like the dress is not appropriate for my age (should be worn by somebody younger-like in their twenties and not me).....I am very confused.... I am thinking of canceling my order and just wearing a simple dress (I have a second one I was going to change for my afterhours party..it is a simple Monique lace dress..).....

need your opinions ladies.. (sorry for the long post)..

If it is your dream dress, than definitely do not cancel. I am also 30 (you/we are not OLD!), and my age did not play a factor in the dress I chose (posted pics below). Conigs25 is one of my best friends, and she is 31 - she chose a dress with a very full skirt - it is gorgeous! The typical age to get married these days is closer to 30 than it ever was. Regardless, you should feel beautiful on your day - don't let age get in the way!! You're 30, not 50!

You need to go with your heart. If it is your dream dress then go for it.

I totally understand where you are coming from though. I am going to be close to 36 by the time we get married and I chose a sleek lined dress rather than a ballerina dress. To tell you the truth POUF isnt my style - even at 24 it wouldnt have been my style.

Also remember this, more and more women are getting married later in life. I venture to say the average age of a bride nowadays is OLDER than it was whn our parents got married. My mom was 25 when she got married in 1956 and they thought SHE was old then. It is all relative. If each dress out there was age specific, then too many dress designers would be out of business.

Star Jones, regardless of what I think about her personality, was over 40 when she got married and had quite a majestic dress with a crazy train.

Again, I say go for it. You will shine people on your wedding day.

I don't think your age should matter at all. If you love the dress, then you should absolutely wear it.
By the way, 30 is not old at all. Like the others have been saying, many women are getting married around 30 these days, especially in this part of the country. I will be 28 when I get married and will be wearing a beautiful beaded dress with a a full skirt and a train.
There is no rule that says only those under 25 should get to feel like a princess on her wedding day.

I fond myself doing the SAME thing. But all i keep reminding myself is the feeling i had when i tried it on and saw myself in it. I started crying!
Ofcourse I have seen dresses since then that i thik i would have liked more but i think everyone goes through that. The dress is one of the most important things for that day so we are always going to wonder if its the right one

heres me in my dress. I hate this pic bc the dressis too big and my hair looks awful down w/ the veil. Im not crazy about the way the dress photographs. It doesnt do it justice

Im not saying this bc you're my beautiful fellow Polish bride, but bc when I saw you in your gown I was speechless...it is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, and you will look like a princess! So what that you're 30! I know a lot of 30 year olds that look better than 25 year olds!!!!!! You are a beautiful girl and you will look absolutely fabulous! You're having a lavish reception and you will look fantastic!

you act like 30 is 50!! Dream dress is what matters, don't second guess it because of your age. There are girls on this site that got married at 19 and wore a sheath simple dress, and then there are brides in their 40's who wore fuller gowns. Its your wedding, don't stress about that!

I am wearing a Reem 'inspired' (LOL) gown with a very poofy ball skirt...

WE ARE 30 AND FLIRTY AND FUN! all of the things a ball gown is.

the only thing you are TOO of is TOO GORGEOUS in that Reem to even CONSIDER canceling that order.

go to the store and try the sample on again, then tell us how your feel IN it!

I also felt the same as you b/c of age. Personally, I went with a modified a-line that is almost completely straight. But that is what I felt comfortable in. It does not matter your age, and if that is the only reason for wanting a different dress, than it's not enough of a reason. If you do not feel comfortable in it, that is a different story! My advice to you, you said it was your dream dress at the beginning of your post, so just remeber how you felt the second you put it on!!! Good luck!

I am 34 and have a highly-detailed ballroom gown with a cathedral train. And you know what? I don't give a rat's azz!!!!! Who says 20-somethings get to have all the fun??

It's your DREAM DRESS!!!! Wear it, be beautiful and be PROUD!!

You made me feel better!!!! Thank you for all your kind words!! I don't know what happened to me (I have never been like this-maybe because the wedding is approaching fast)....

I love being 30 (30 is the new 20 right??) it is not the age that bothers me it's just the whole 'poofy' look (which I love anyway) that got me thinking......but it is my dream gown and I guess I will keep it......

Another fellow Polish Princess!! Keep the dress, its your big day and somehting inside you told you when you bought it that it was the one. I'm going to be 30 on my wedding day too and I bought a dress that is pink and has little flowers all over it. I don't care. Its what I want. Your wedding day should be a fairy tale and your happily ever after, you deserve to not only look but feel like a princess.

I remember seeing a picture of you in your dress and you're GORGEOUS!!!! Don't second guess it!

I had many many many second guesses about my dress. I didn't do the whole try on a million dresses. I saw the only one I loved on the internet and found a Bridal Shop to order it for me. I got it and it was 'alright'. Time went on and finally...finally...on my last fiting the day that I was going to bring it home I fell completely and madly in love with it all over again. It was such an amazing feeling! The day of my wedding I felt like a bride! It was wonderful.

Oh...and I'm 29 (close enough to 30) and my dress had some poof.
