Wedding Dress Shopping Review
I haven''''''''t posted in forever but wanted to let people know about a dress shopping spree I went on last month. 1. Priscilla''''''''s of Boston (Roslyn Heights): A wonderful shopping experience. Theresa the manager was very helpful and is ordering some more samples for me to try on in the style I wanted when they didn''''''''t have exactly what I wanted. The customer service was excellent but I would call ahead as they just opened a location here in April. The dresses tend to be on the more expensive side but the quality is very apparent particularly if you are picky about dart lines, seems, hems, etc. 2. The Wedding Salon at Manhasset: Very busy but the owner Rosemary is great. They mostly featured strapless. Again, excellent service and they often have trunk shows with samples half off. 3. Bridal Reflections in Carle Place: AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I waited over half an hour for a scheduled appointment. When I complained that they helped people who came in afterwards or had later scheduled appointments, they told me the person assigned to me was running late. I was furios and canceled the appointment and would never return. I called the store later and the manager apoligized but I wouldn''''''''t go back. Hope this helps people

Wedding Dress Shopping
They best dress shopping experience I had by far, was at Saymel's in Astoria - which is where I ended up getting my dress and my girls' dresses. Other places I went to didn't even come close: Kay-Anne's - Franklin Square Bridal Reflections - Carle Place (place was a total joke) David's - both Carle Place and LIC, they have no organization, if you are willing to sacrifice your sanity you can get a decent priced dress RK Bridal - NYC Flowerama - Elmont (inexperienced sale woman, not much selection)

i have heard of saymels several times, but have never visited the store since i have not begun my dress search yet. how is the selection and the $$$. i know the owners are from ireland and supposed to be awesome. since we are both irish (well not 100%) and plan on incorporating some of the customs into the wedding, i thought it would be nice to buy my dress from the 'irish wedding store.' any additional input would be great: best time to go, selection of styles, prices etc...

Hey Quinn, we're both Irish too! But I didn't even know the owners were until I was placing my order for the dress, she came up to make sure the size the sales woman was putting in for was the actual size I needed and so forth. Nice lady, but all my interactions were either with Gilda or the girls in the front and they are all great. They have a vast selection, and most important to me, in ALL sizes. Even up to 22 - which you can't find in most shops. I knew I didn't want to spend a fortune, but didn't tell anyone and I swear I didn't look at the price tags- but when I found the dress I loved it was only $650.00! They have more expensive designers too, so bring pictures and they will pull out what styles they think best match. They help you in and out of dresses (i didn't get that any where else either) Sometimes its really busy like any other place, make your appt the first one of the day or anytime before 5pm during the week. Because Steinway St is such a melting pot, you may not get such an 'Irish Feeling' but they are really great.

My good friend bought her dress there and they were wonderful to her however when we went back to get our bridesmaid's dress they were so rude we walked out. I recently went in to look at a dress I saw in the window. (I live in the neighborhood.) I didn't have an appointment but they weren't busy and they were just ok to us. They gave us a high price and I later called somewehere else and the dress was priced for less than half of that. I went in another time with my friend. Again, they were just ok. One woman was very sweet and went out of her way to help us find the dress we were looking for but the first lady who was helping us acted like she couldn't be bothered. Nobody helped my friend get into the gown and pin them to make them fit better. So I guess what I am saying is I have had a mixed experience with them. As far as timing, I went in in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday and no one was there. On the weekends, it was a little more crowded. Each time they preferred an appointment.

Saymels
My friend used to work at Saymels a long time ago, and so bought her dress there about 4 years ago. She of course received wonderful service. All of us bridesmaids shopped there as well. The bridesmaids dresses were well priced, but I was not thrilled with the time they took to get the alterations correct. It took us 4 tries before it was right. But honestly, that was my only complaint. All in all they were helpful to all of us.
