Weekend wedding review...(REALLY LONG)
Well, here it is .. I promised to tell about the wedding we attended over the weekend .. and I have to say, the ceremony was beautiful. The Church was Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary. It doesn`t look like anything particularly outstanding from the outside .. but WOW!! when you walk inside! They had a small orchestra of violins and such. The music was phenomenal. They did a full mass, and I can honestly say at no point did I think 'when is this thing going to end' and I`d say the ceremony lasted at least a full hour! I`m not sure if they had two camera coverage of the ceremony, but I certainly hope so because the one guy who I did see carrying around the camera on his shoulder didn`t have the film rolling the entire time. I`m sorry, but at my ceremony, I want the whole thing taped. Now I understand the ceremony was long, but wouldn`t it be better to tape now, and edit later if needed? Like I said, maybe they had a second camera somewhere that I didn`t see, but make sure to discuss this with your videographer. I believe their video was done from their photographer studio .. Cassarino, who seemed good. The limo was done by Royalty, and the car arrived early and waited around the corner and up the block before pulling up to the house earlier than expected. The guys were on their way 10 minutes earlier than originally anticipated since everyone was ready to go. The reception was at Fox Hollow, where there were a couple of complications early on. First, the room where photos were to be taken was not air conditioned, which it should have been. By the time they complained and air was turned on, they were basically through much of the photos. Second, the cocktail hour was to be in two rooms so there would be plenty of seating and room to move around. However, only one room had been opened up. I guess a second room was opened later because the room was emptier when I came back about 15 minutes before the end. The food seemed plentiful, but I didn`t taste anything. The room for the reception was nice. It was rectangular in shape. At one end was the dance floor, taking up about 1/4 of the room. The bride and groom sat on the other end, with a stone-wall waterfall behind them. The only knock with this set-up was that they seemed lost in the crowd. They had their own table, but they weren`t 'out there' like at many reception halls. The DJ - Bodyrock - was good. As a word of advice though, if you have a difficult name to pronounce, make sure you go over with your church and dj/band exactly how you want it pronounced and test them. There were no hand-outs, which was fine. Their intelligent lighting system was nice, but the smoke machine got to be a little too much at times. Overall, though, they played fun music and kept the party moving. The flowers, by Pedestals, were very pretty. Primarily roses, most seemed to last the entire day. Oh, and make sure someone will be around to help the guys pin their flowers on. The food at the Fox Hollow was very good. The plates weren`t overflowing with food, but dinner was definitely satisfying and there were many courses. Service was pretty good, but at times the staff seemed a little confused .. like when they were serving the ice cream. It seemed more like they were randomly going around to the tables then tending to their own tables. But at this point they had an excuse .. I`ll explain later. One note to those considering having a late start to their cocktail hour and reception .. expect your guests to leave early. There was about a 2 1/2 hour break between the ceremony and the cocktail hour, which started at 8. Many people didn`t stick around for the last half hour of the reception. The tux company gets a poor score. I believe the company`s name is De Ri .. it`s next to Royalty Limos. First, they tried to pass off a bad pair of pants to the groom, who noticed a problem with them at the shop. Second, the best man also was given a pair of pants where the adjustment thing had come completely off its track .. and the guys had to struggle to fix it just for him to try it on at home. Finally, they had given the best man the wrong color tie. Instead of a dark blue, they gave him a lighter blue. Unfortunately on the guys part, this wasn`t checked during try-ons, so they had to go with it for the wedding. However, the two blues were not even close, and this was a huge mistake on the shop`s part. Definitely make sure to check everything, everything!! Finally .. and I`m sure there`s more .. the night was somewhat tarnished when someone came in and asked 'is there a doctor in the house.' While rumors swirled .. it turned out one of the Fox Hollow`s people working another party 'passed out.' One of the employees we talked to said they hoped he would be okay, but others said he died. And many of the staff were visably, and understandably, shaken. I hope this doesn`t sound too negative. It was really a great wedding. I don`t think I`ll ever see a more beautiful ceremony.

Thanks for sharing! It`s great to read reviews on all the vendors. That`s so sad to hear about the Fox Hollow employee. I can`t imagine something like that happening, let alone at someone`s wedding.

Weekend wedding review...(REALLY LONG)
That actually happened at a Christening I attended at the New Hyde Inn. One of the servers, an older gentleman collapsed while having a heart attack. They took him away in an ambulance, but he was not breathing when he left. Just goes to show that amidst all the fun and celebration there is some kind of master plan at work that we cannot predict or control.Welcome New Vendors
