Repost from BHB: Calling all sandcastle brides past and present...
Please FM or post if you have had a cake tasting - I posted during the summer that my new BM wouldnt allow us to have a food tasting and I have since heard wonderful things and am over it. However, he had said to come in the fall to schedule the cake tasting. Now that it is fall they are denying any cake tasting and insist that they have NEVER done a cake tasting EVER!They said we just need to trust them that everything is good. Now I'm aggravated and I'm tired that they have not honored anything they have told us so far... and I know I have heard nothing but wonderful things about their food but I have been given no reason to trust them!
I would just like to know if any sandcastle brides have ever had a cake tasting before selecting their cake. Thank you girls!!!

I am a Sandcastle bride as well and was wondering about this! When we booked in May, they told us we wouldn't be able to taste the food, but we will have the opportunity to taste the cake...but we went in there last month to make a payment, and the lady told us they do not do them!Needless to say my original BM isn't there either...some family emergency and she had to leave. (Dawn) I don't know if they are trying to change things around, but it's a bit ridiculous!!
Any past brides???

Another Sandcastle bride here...I hadn't even thought about a cake tasting. I would really like that sense no one ever seems to have a good thing to say about their cake. I'll definitely keep you ladies posted about it. I am curious as to what is going on with the staff there cause there definitely seems to be some changes going on.

I was there a couple of weeks ago checking in on the shade behind the dais. (FM for more info) I have had 2 BM and they BOTH are no longer there. As for the food tasting, we did have one BEFORE we booked. The cake tasting was never an option. I was told last time that there are NEW bakers and there should be NO problems. I'm hoping for the best but anticipating the worse because of all the stories I've heard. We're also picking a VERY simple design for the cake and letting the florist do most of the work. I'm hoping that with the Vienesse hour, nobody wil notice whether the cake is great or not.

I was told by other brides that they give them some excuse and then the cake ends up bad no matter what! One of the vendors I was talking with told me that George who worked their when I signed left to open his own business and it sounds like nothing has been right since

Insist that they let you at LEAST purchase a sample cake from their bakery.I'm sorry but they royally effed up my cake despite my attempts to make it easy for them to get it right.
I wrote them a very long sincere letter expressing my dissappointment with them in this area (everything else was great). But no attempt at a remedy was offered on their part. Anyway, that was after the fact.
To this day I regret not trusting my gut about the cake. I had heard bad reviews on their cake prior to my wedding and felt that it wasn't worth the money to go elsewhere. I certainly wish I had.
I can't believe that after my letter and all the bad cake reviews I know they have gotten, that they still haven't fixed this situation. They are a great hall and it's really hurting their image.
Anyway, to answer the question - no they never even offered a cake tasting to me. I did, however, get a food tasting.
