How much are you tipping the Maitre'D?

My hall told me $4-6 a head...

I think this sounds high. Am I wrong? I have friends who have tipped the maitre'd a flat rate, like $300.

Would any of you mind telling me how much you are giving? Thanks so much.

We gave $400..which was about $3 pp.

we tipped the matre d 1,000... we also had 300 guests.

We tipped $550 - $5 per person. He was the BEST!
