POLL - Are you / Did you get your hair and makeup professionally done for your wedding?

My parents swear that they've 'never heard' of a bride getting her hair and makeup done for her wedding - WHAAATT?!?!? I am starting this poll so I can prove to them that they are misinformed. My Mom told me last night ...'you should just do your own hair' - sorry, but my idea of a nightmare is trying to deal with my fro' all by myself on my wedding day.

I'm going to a salon to get my hair done, and having a makeup artist come to my house.

No way do I trust myself to do either by myself.

Getting both done professionally...I don't want to have to worry about doing it myself...Plus that is the one day to be 'pampered'

I'm having both professionally done. My hairdresser is coming to my house and my cousin who is a make-up artist is doing my make-up. I can't imagine having to deal with them on my own! I can barely take care of it on a normal day!

My parents haven't heard of a lot of things about weddings, so I've gotten to the point of ignoring them and doing what FH and I want.

A few things they've never heard of:
1) Engagement Party - we didn't have one anyway
2) Staying at a hotel the night of
3) Having a bridal party besides your witnesses (MOH & BM)
4) Rehersal Dinner
5) Gifts to your Bridal Party
6) Inviting FH's side to the Bridal Shower

thank god my parents aren't the only ones in the dark ....my parents still can't figure out when the cocktail hour happens

Definitely having both done. I think I would get WAY too stressed trying to do it myself. That's the last thing I need to worry about on my wedding day. Treat yourself. When our parents got married, it probably wasn't likely that they got their hair and makeup done professionally. But now, it's becoming more and more common.

I don't really know how to do any of that stuff. Both are coming to my house early in the morning.
I am pretty sure that most people get thier hair and makeup professionally done. All my friends who have gotten married have done it.

if i could do eyes id do my makeup myself- my foundation and lipgloss/blush are all great but i cant get those romantic eyes that my makeup artist in CT did.

im po'ed because i really cant find another makeup artist to do mine like she did. :(
im still looking. im going to set up a trial with the lady at the salon where im getting my hair done

I could do my hair myself. It is very short and I am not doing anything too fancy with it an I have a headband, but I am still getting it done.

I was going to do my own make up but since I am so fair and i have big apple cheeks, they are very red in pictures, so I thought it would be best to have it professionally done.

Answer to the original question: having both done professionally since I don't want to have to worry about it.

In response to the above, I don't think a lot of people outside of NY and major metropolitan cities do those things.

Exactly!!! I don't get it, if you only get your hair/MU professionally done once let it be on your wedding day!!!!!!!!

Exactly!!! I don't get it, if you only get your hair/MU professionally done once let it be on your wedding day!!!!!!!!

I agree, I always done my makeup for everything but it's one less thing I have to worry about on my wedding day.
