Advice on bridal gowns
I have looked through about 15 Bridal Magazines - only to find one dress that I absolutely love. Little did I know how expensive Kenneth Pool Bridal Gowns are. I saw the picture in Martha Stewart's magazine. I looked up the price on TheKnot.com and found out that it is about $5000. As much as I love it, I am not spending that much on a dress for 1 day. Does anyone know if they make knock-offs of designer dresses?? And if so, where??

Re: Advice on bridal gowns
I know that ChristineAE is getting her gown made for her, I believe a Monique Lhuillier style.FM her and she can give details of who she is using, I'm not positive of her name, but I think it's Pinina.
Good luck!

Re: Advice on bridal gowns
ok i had all these ideas when i started looking toodepending on what you want to spend, different bridal salons cater to different price ranges
even when you do find a gown in the magazine, i will bet that the gown you end up buying is totally and 100% different than what you had in mind
i suggest figuring out what kind of money you want to spend and visiting a bridal slaon that carries dresses in your range
let me tell you, after buying my gown at burtons, it would be very hard for me to walk into a place like kleinfelds and not want one of their designer label dresses
i can guarantee that many of the less expensive designers make gorgeous dresses- not necessarily knockoffs, but gorgeous and equal in quality dresses for less money
good luck in your search!!

Re: Advice on bridal gowns
I spent $800.00 on my dress - got it from Carmela's Bridal Garden in Huntington - She took out dresses from all price ranges - I put the dress on before looking at the price, and thought for sure it would be thousands of dollars - the dress is SO stunning - my jaw dropped when she told me - she didn't even realize the price would be so low!!!!

Re: Advice on bridal gowns
I suggest you find the dress and try it on. What looks great in a magazine might not necessarily look good on you. If after that you are absolutely positively in love with the dress, try calling Phyliss at 631-368-6462. She has helped a lot of girls get designer dresses for less than retail.

Re: Advice on bridal gowns
I fell so in love with a dress I saw online by Claire Pettibone. It was the ONLY dress I was considering. Until I tried it on. It just was not for me.I wound up with something [the same price ] but TOTALLY different than I ever thought I would get.

There is also a store in NYC called the Bridal Garden that sells designer gowns at a reduced price because they are samples or were donated.

Re: Advice on bridal gowns
here is my opinionFORGET the magazines
they stink
GO to a place and try on every style
Be open minded and express your budget concerns from the very begining.
Also do not shy away from boutiques bc you think they are expensive. Most will work with any price range.
