Re: How would you plan 'Your Wedding on Halloween'??
I might do a costume ball... but that would be a far stretch.I think I would use pumpkins in the centerpieces.. you could make your placecards in halloween shapes, play some halloween music during the reception (like monster mash, love potion #9).
But a costume ball would be a blast!

Re: How would you plan 'Your Wedding on Halloween'??
I think one thing that would be really cool would be to incorporate carved jack-o-lanterns either into the centerpieces or as decorations on tables holding the placecards, etc. I also like the idea of giving out halloween candy, maybe at the end of the night. If you had kids at the wedding, maybe get them some cheap masks to wear in order to keep them occupied. That's definitely a fun holiday to incorporate into your wedding.

Re: How would you plan 'Your Wedding on Halloween'??
I would LOVE to have a costume ball. I would have something a little less formal, with pumpkins and halloween decorations all over (not scary ones, but tasteful ones). Maybe my centerpiece would be a tree with those orange candle things hanging and gourds on the table.I would use gourds as my place card holders. OMG, I would have so much fun. I wanted a halloween wedding, but for some reason opted for the day after thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.

Re: How would you plan 'Your Wedding on Halloween'??
Ok SO I am doing good so far.I got a tremendous amount of ideas from Martha Stuart.com. She is amazing.
We are using lots of candles every where. We have a arch way that leads into the lobby that has black trees attached to it.
I painted my jack-o-lanterns black like the pic.
I did the Halloween eggs.
Oh we did a jack-o-lantern village also.
And the place card holders are cool too.
Let me get more pics. Thanks ladies.

INSTEAD OF EVERYBODY BUYING A NEW DRESS/GOWN AND RENTING TUXEDO'S I THINK IT WOULD BE CHEAPER AND DEFINATELY DIFFERENT & FUN TO RENT REAL COSTUMES SOMETHING A BIT DIFFERENT THAN YOUR TRADITIONAL WEDDINGS AND PROBABLY A BLAST...

We thought of that, but we didn't want it to look like a costume party. So we requested that our guest wear all black. The photographer suggested it and it stuck.

I once considered that, and thought it would be great for the groom and the bride to dress as the King and Queen of Hearts (like on a deck of cards) instead of regular wedding dress and tux.

Re: How would you plan 'Your Wedding on Halloween'??
My wedding was halloween weekend. We opted against the costume ball - my DH was against it.I did go crazy with Fall/Halloween stuff though! We had pumpkin placecards, rust colored BM dresses, leaf invitaions, a halloween candy bar at the end (guests went trick-or-treating and filled up bags of candy from cauldrons), tons of leaves on the cake, and other fun stuff like that.
We also had our name carved in a pumpkin and our pictures in a gourd!
Everyone loved it!

I LOVE Halloween! Are those your bat placecards?????
I love them!
Where do you get such small pumpkins?
What do the guests do with them once they are seated? Are they table decorations or do they bring them home???
What else are yu doing for ur wedding?? Martha Stewart made cute gravestone treat bags the other day on her show using black paper lunchbags.

Have orange and black drinks - not sure what the blank would be but orange could be screwdrivers.Have a candy bar as guests leave - with fun sized halloween candy, candy corns, etc.

Re: How would you plan 'Your Wedding on Halloween'??
PeterNChris thank you so much.I got so many ideas from MS. She is amazing.
The pumpkin place cards are for the guest to bring home. Everyone will be given a trick or treat bag and a chance to trick or treat. We are having a chocolate fountain and a caramel fondue pot for dipping goddies in.
Some of my faves are the little cauldrons that hold the flowers to toss and the dry ice in the cauldrons that will be set all over the reception area.
The STM is going to use red food coloring in the Champain for the toast. I am also filling vases with red water and floating lit candles in them.
I love how everything is coming together.
Thanks everyone.
Pic 1 is the BM Flowers.

Re: How would you plan 'Your Wedding on Halloween'??
I went to a costume wedding a few years ago and it was awesome! Everyone dressed in proper attire for the ceremony and then had a few hours to prepare for the costume party. The bride and groom came out in Sumo wrestling outfits for their first dance. They had a kareoke set up, cotton candy stand, popcorn stand, hot dog stand, costume contest, brazilian dancers, fire eaters. It was very different but one of the best weddings I have ever been to.Welcome New Vendors
