Ladies! Some advice needed re: bridesmaid gowns
Hi ladies,I'm getting married in July 06. One of my bridesmaids is currently studying in Florence, Italy until December. I don't have her measurements or anything, and I was thinking of just waiting to order the gowns until she returned. Is early January 06 too late to order the bridesmaids' gowns for my wedding? Am I not leaving myself enough of a window in case something goes wrong with the dresses?
Advice, please!! TIA...

Re: Ladies! Some advice needed re: bridesmaid gowns
I hope that is enough time because one of my BM's is preggers and she is waiting until December to order her dress. My wedding is in AprilThey say it usually takes 6-8 weeks for the dress to arrive and then 6-8 weeks for alterations so 12-16 weeks in total (4 months max)
you should be fine.

No, I think that is enough time. We just ordered BM dress this week. They told us it would take about 4 months to come in, and they would come in for fittings about 1-2 months before. So if you order in Jan, they should be in by April or May, that still gives you 2-3 months before the wedding.

That should be more than enough time, but don't hesitate when she comes back because some designers take longer than others. I ordered my BM gowns in October and they arrived by January.

If you order them later, i would tell them your date is a month or atleast a couple weeks earlier!!! I know I am going to do that regardless! For my friends wedding we ordered them in Feb and her wedding was early May, no problems here..

I had a similar problem since my sister/BM was teaching in Germany last year. I basically took a guess on her size since i knew she was a little smaller than me. Dress was still too big but got altered. I wouldn't wait. My wedding was JUly 05 and we ordered our dresses in November. THey came in the end of June! If you do wait, lie about your wedding date and make it earlier.

It only takes 4-6 monthsto get the dress..it will cost more if they have to rush order the dress! Definitely know what dress you want by Jan.

Re: Ladies! Some advice needed re: bridesmaid gowns
Typically, they come in 12-16 weeks after ordering. But make sure they are ordered! For one wedding I was in, the shop lost one of the girl's measurements and didn't order the dresses when they said they would. (They said she never called with her measurements.) Odd thing was, they already charged her credit card for the deposit. And she gave her card when they took down her measurments!!!! So they said they never heard from her, but just magically had her credit card number.Luckily, the bride called about one month after they were supposedly ordered to check that everything was okay with the order. After bridezilla emerged, they were ordered that day!

The BM's dresses should be ordered 4-6 months prior to the wedding date.

I am also a July 06 bride and it should be enough time...I spoke with Macy's...(this is where we are getting the dresses) and the lady there told me if ordered in January there would be enough time.
