Re: Asking future SILs to be BMs.....
I think you should DEFINITELY call them. Email is too impersonal for that question...IMHO

Re: Asking future SILs to be BMs.....
I think you're better off calling Mel. Email is too impersonal. You are asking for them to play a big part on one of the most important days of your life. Don't be nervous. It'll be a great opportunity to talk to her for the 1st time.

true but i guess i'm just nervous b/c i never talked to the one sister before on the phone.. i'm being chicken. fiance says email
Or, you can write a nice message in a bridesmaid card. www.advantagebridal.com sells really cute ones that I used. I had already asked my BMs but I wrote them all a message about how happy I was that they were going to be in the wedding. That will also be a nice momento for them, and you don't have to talk on the phone. I totally understand. I hate talking on the phone unless it's one of my BM...for some reason I totally feel comfortable talking on the phone with her. But with most people I feel awkward.

Re: Asking future SILs to be BMs.....
We are waiting until Thanksgiving to ask because that is when we will see them in person. Personally, I am a fan of asking in person if you can.

I also prefer asking them in person but if thats not possible I would definitely call them. I agree with the other girls I think that comes off too impersonal.

I guess I should just do it and stop being a baby!
ITS OK - I ASKED EVERYONE ON EMAIL - WHO CARES- IMPERSONAL OR NOT- EVERYONE WAS THRILLED TO BE ASKED ANYWAY- NO MATTER IN WHAT FASHION.

Re: Asking future SILs to be BMs.....
I think it depends on the person. My fsil never asked me to be in her bp.. she just 'told' me when to go for my measurements for her bm gowns. Weird. But hey.. whatever works. I actually asked one of my BM's over e-mail because I feel more comfortable writing things out because it allows me to collect my thoughts and say what I really want to say. In person, I get nervous and forget things. If someone asked me over e-mail, I wouldnt get offended at all.

Agreed! another thing i wanted to add- i asked a few people who i was not sure would say yes - one lives in florida and one had bad money issues. asking over email ensures they are not put on the spot and gives them time to respond if they cant do it.

So , I guess you should just weigh the good with the bad. There are just too many 'formailities' in planning a wedding. Who is to say what is right & what is wrong. Its hard. But like I said.. its all personal opinion. Do whats the most comfortable for you.
