Best place to buy pearls?

I'm thinking with the lace BM dresses, I may get the girls some pearl necklaces as gifts. Maybe a strand, maybe a pendant. I know Honora is good. Are there any other places (online preferably since I'm out of state) good for pearl necklaces? I think I want to spend $150 or less since I am also paying for their hair to be done. Here's the dress, probably will be in a shade of pink or raspberry.

P.S. TIA!

Re: Best place to buy pearls?

don't buy them online unless they are costume or Akoya.

I was very dissapointed in the quality of pearls I ordered from a catalog (Ross-Simons). They were full of blemishes and some even had gashes in them.

That's true. I would probably guy them in person, but it would have to be a place that has stores in MD.

Well, the sites that I mentioned buy the same quality as department stores. Try Macy's, Rich's or the like (not sure what's in MD).

Re: Best place to buy pearls?

I bought pearls from lord & taylor and they are excellent quality and reasonable prices. when they have the fine jewelry sales the pearls are usually half price.

We have nordstroms and bloomingdales. I'll try there. Thanks!
