Help! gonna have 'aunt flo' for my wedding
Just spoke with my doctor and it turns out that I can't use my birth control pills to skip my period. She said with Ortho-Tri-Cylen I would end up having break-thru bleeding. Guess I should have started planning for this earlier.Any other brides deal with this on the Big Day???

Honestly? I'd rather have break-thru bleeding than full-on Aunt Flo..... I'd keep taking the Ortho-Tricycline.

not sure I agree with that. sometimes it's not good to play with mother nature.

will it be your first 2 days on your wedding day?
here's a tip which is definitely not an old wive's tale. sex & excercise brings it on. so workout like crazy and ___ like crazy too!

Re: Help! gonna have 'aunt flo' for my wedding
Honestly...I did this for the bar exam so that I wouldn't get it...and I didn't have any break through. I don't have a very heavy flo to begin with but if you don't either I don't think that you will. i took my pills all the way through....and didn't get my period for a month...it worked out for me, hope it does for you

Thanks for your input -- but just to clarify -- did you use Ortho-Tri-Cycline?? My doc said some pills would do find but the 'tri' pills give you different drugs for different weeks.

Up until 2 months ago I used the same thing for 8 years and doubled up back to back pills so I wouldnt get AF, and NEVER had break thru ever.

It looks like I may be cutting it close for mine so there is a possibility but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: Help! gonna have 'aunt flo' for my wedding
I skip my placebos all the time for certain events (using Ortho tri) and I haven't had any problems at all (actually I just did it again this week to prevent just that problem on my wedding day. I say go for it. No break-through for me....no pregnancies....no problems. But, don't do it for too many months in a row (the most I've done it was for three months).

Re: Help! gonna have 'aunt flo' for my wedding
I planned mine out with my birth control. I had breakthrough bleeding (which was minimal) but it's worth it. So I skipped my period week and started another month. I had to FH would KILL me if I had it on our wedding night or on our HM!!!!!

I have done it a few times, and I did have breakthrough bleeding the first time. But, I didn't have the bleeding during the time I was skipping my period. Mine came like 1-2 weeks later. So you might be fine for the wedding day, but it may come during your honeymoon. But it's hard to say since everyone is different.

Re: Help! gonna have 'aunt flo' for my wedding
yes, I just realized the other night when I was taking my pill that October has 5 weekends instead of 4, so when I counted the rows in my pack, it looks like I am going to get mine the Friday right before my wedding (which is Sunday). My plan is to skip the placebo week and start the next pack so I can skip AF for the month of November.(BTW, I take Yasmin)

Re: Help! gonna have 'aunt flo' for my wedding
My doctor also said he didn't advise trying to skip when on Ortho Tri Cyclin but silly me listed to my friends! So instead of maybe 3-4 days of a very light aunt flo like I usually get...I got had a terrible reaction to trying to skip it - I got a BAD visit 3 days into our honeymoon & felt like I was 13 again! If your Aunt Flo isn't that bad you might not wanna risk it.

my friend did this and she thought everything was fine and then had horrible cramping and way more than just breakthrough bleeding. She felt sick for a few days. Just be careful!

I'm on ortho-tricyclin and my doctor said it would be no problem at all. I have done it plenty of times on other pills and never had a bleed.

stop taking your pill a week before you should and you will get your period- then just start over
That's it! You could read the instructions that came with your pills and see what they say about 'if you miss 2 or more pills in week 3' and do what they say.
