I need a good eye...Lace for Wedding Dress - UPDATE (with PIC)
Here are the pics from the actual dress:
UPDATE
So, I went to Lace Star yesterday after work and found the EXACT lace Monique has. The guy was very helpful, and it's mucho expensive ($125 per yeard) - so, he made me a copy of the lace, and giving it to my dress maker when I see her next Saturday to match exactly and hopefully get cheaper.
Thanks everyone for your feedback and advice!
Regards,
C.

Re: I need a good eye...Lace for Wedding Dress
your dress is alecon lace like mine, and that swatch isn't. Realy alecon lace has the wispy edges, fake doesn't. But I do think it would match ok.

no, I think the pattern repeats too much compared to the originals pattern. But it is pretty none the less.

But is it close enough to pass off like the 'original?'Not like I expect anyone to be all in the 'grill' that close with a microscope verifying if it's the real deal or not...

I think it's close enough. It's very pretty nonetheless.

I personally like it and I think its pretty close to the original lace. I dont like the frills on the lace anyway...looks too fragile.

Yes, for the border on the skirt...but that shouldn't be too hard.

where did you find that sample? there are others that look more like the one on the real deal....you should really get multiple swatches and compare them against each other....that's what I am doing.
hey, if you want, we can go fabric shopping together...I could meet in in the garment district or something

I agree. HOWEVER, unless anyone else at your wedding knows the dress you are trying to duplicate, no one will be any wiser for the wear if you pick something that doesnt match. The bride (that woud be YOU) is the ONLY person who NEEDS to be satisfied.

Re: I need a good eye...Lace for Wedding Dress
Close but not quite. ML's alencon lace is not as 'close' as the one you posted. But then again I'm really anal about lace. Hence why I still don't have a dress
Good Luck finding a match Christine.

Re: I need a good eye...Lace for Wedding Dress
alencon's also a pretty big pattern - the pictured lace looks like it might be much smaller in pattern so that's something to look out for too.

Christine what are you trying to do? Copy the dress? Make a matching shawl or veil? Without knowing I can't say whether or not it is close enough to pass off like the original.
