I'm happy but sad....
My friend Brian who works at Chateau Briand is getting promoted tomorrow to BM. And while I am very happy for him, I'm sad this didn't happen sooner for a few reasons.
1. My FH and I loved the place, but at the time they didn't have a room for under 100 people unless you took half of the restaurant.
2. He told me they closed the restaurant as of Sept. 1st and they are making it into another catering room for people with under 100 guests.
3. We would have gotten a great deal there since we know him, and I really wanted an outdoor ceremony.
We could technically still change the hall, but then we would be out about $1700 that we have paid to JT. But we are happy with our choice!!
So all those who did not consider Chateau Briand before because of having less than 100 guests, they have now changed, and can accomodate parties for less!! Also I have given my friend Brian a heads up on things not to do as a BM, giving him the common complaints that I have heard from brides here!! So I am sure he will do well under my guidance!!

Re: I'm happy but sad....
Aw, I'm sorry!
I have to say that you have nothing to worry about with JT. My wedding was really nothing short of perfect and my guests were raving about the service. Once they saw the waiters come around with entrees offering seconds after dinner they lost it!
But, if you're unsure or really want an outdorr ceremony (that's YOUR wedding - the ceremony, the rest is just a big party!) then consider a change. If your friend will give you a great deal you might break even and there's nothing worse than self-doubt when planning a wedding...trust me, I know. I booked 2 halls before JT. $1700 is a small price to pay for peace of mind...and you could always find someone that is willing to take your date so that you don't lose money.

Re: I'm happy but sad....
ARE YOU SERIOUS???
We are supposed to have our CH in the Europa and our BM never told us they were changing it...he did say they were renovating all the rooms and putting in new carpet and upholstery but not changing the Europa to be a Banquet room

Re: I'm happy but sad....
Let me get all the info....I don't think they're changing it completely, just not using it solely as a restaurant anymore.
They will now start using it as catering space, instead of a restaurant. If they are making any renovations to the room, I would check with your BM. My friend is online right now, so I'll ask him.

Re: I'm happy but sad....
He's online right now so any questions you have I can ask him and get an instant answer LOL
He starts tomorrow as a BM. He said same chairs, just getting recovered, with padding and staining being done since the chairs they have are not stained and have no cushioning.

Re: I'm happy but sad....
He said he thinks that is decided ahead of time, but if there are 2 weddings at the same time, then it is first come first serve
OK he's going to bed....no more questions LOL

Re: I'm happy but sad....
At least now he believes me when I told him I was giving him some referrals!! Today was his first day, so he might not have known as much as a regular BM, and he was worried about doing well, I told him not to worry!!

Re: I'm happy but sad....
Awww thanks Sasha!!!
I already had an offer if I want to incorporate it by Tom (MCD015) and I might take him up on it!! I was thinking of using it on the aisle runner, the menus and the placecards, and I don't now what else!! Don't want to go monogram happy!
As for the table numbers, I want to have a pic of my cat next to each number or in the background. I haven't quite figured that one out yet!!
