Has anyone sold or donated their dress

Hi girls - I am a newlywed, but my dress is still hanging on the door in my laundry room. I haven't even gotten it cleaned. I was thinking, why should I pay to get it cleaned when I am NEVER going to wear it again!
I was thinking of selling it or even donating it.
I am going to keep the train to make it into a baptismal dress or something, but I don't need the whole dress.

Any suggestions?

Re: Has anyone sold or donated their dress

i am donating mine to my cousin who is doing the Avon breast cancer run next year and her and her friends are setting up an auction where all their wedding dresses will be auctioned off and the proceeds will go to breast cancer research.
In honor of my mother who battled breast cancer and beat it. but then 8 years later died from colon and liver cancer.

Re: Has anyone sold or donated their dress

In New York City you can donate your dress to the Bridal Garden. Proceeds of the sale of the dresses benefit Sheltering Arms Children Services. Here is the link to their website and info about donating your dress:

http://www.bridalgarden.org/AboutUs1.html

I bought my dress there. I've thought about donating it back but I don't know if they'll take it.
