Repost, Timeshare help needed

So, here's the deal.

My aunt gave up one of her Aruba weeks in May to give to me for November 1-8. Now they are telling her they have no availability for that week, in Aruba.....or anywhere else!!!!

My mom has been on the phone for 2 hours a day pretending to be my aunt, because she is better at getting things done, and so far the only places available are in Mexico (didn't really want to go there).

AND

they are telling my mom we can only do a Saturday to Saturday or Sunday to Sunday. I used my boss's timeshare in November and we did a Tuesday to Tuesday no problem.
Anyone have any advice? I really don't know much about the actual timeshare itself, but they are giving us such a hard time!

Re: Repost, Timeshare help needed

Just out of curiosity, do you know the name of the timeshare company? MY FI has worked with Interval International, and they were pretty flexible.

Re: Repost, Timeshare help needed

RCI usually does fill up quickly, and if you want to exchange your week for another location or different week, you have to do it way far in advance. When did you actually put in for the week in November?

Re: Repost, Timeshare help needed

My aunt called in May, I guess it wasn't far enough in advance.

The company is RCI, they stink!

Re: Repost, Timeshare help needed

I am going to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico for my Honeymoon and we booked through RCI in November. (A gift from my Aunt and Uncle)

We really wanted Costa Rica, but they didn't have anything available

So, we asked what they had and they had something in Playa Del Carmen, so we settled. They told us we had to do Sat - Sat also. But we are doing Sunday to Saturday instead.

I would call them and ask what they DO have available for the week you want to go. Then you can look up the resorts on the RCI website.

Good luck and let me know what happens!!!

Re: Repost, Timeshare help needed

I am using my parents timeshare in Aruba and their company is RCI too. We booked our HM in December for September and alot of places were available at that time. We had to do Sunday to Sunday and dont want to leave the day after the wedding so we are basically just going to lose the day and get there on Monday. It doesnt really matter to me though.
