Passport/Honeymoon Question

Assuming you didn't have your passport amended to change your last name before you went on your honeymoon, did you run into any problems using your passport? DH and I are going on a delayed honeymoon and I still haven't amended my passport to show my new last name. We're leaving soon though and there's no time to mail it off and wait for it to come back. What did you guys do?

Re: Passport/Honeymoon Question

So your name has been officically changed?

If it is, and all your other documentation has your new name, then yes, you must get your passport ammended.

They have a rush service, so I'd definitely recommend you taking care of that before you leave!! It will cost you some $$ but it's worth it. Otherwise, you may have a very hard time. With all that is going on with security, I don't think they will let this slide.

Re: Passport/Honeymoon Question

Is your license still in your maiden name?

IT's always best to have two forms of pic ID when traveling now.

I just traveled under my maiden name because we were leaving right away. My tickets were in my maiden name and all guest accomodations at the hotels. When we got there we told them. We were flying internationally so they asked to see my passport and license at Heathrow (London) due to the attacks.

Re: Passport/Honeymoon Question

well, how did you book air/cruise/hotel... etc under?

if you booked under your madien name, you can use all your old docs... if you booked things under your new name, you may want to call a travel agent or directly to where your going for legal name issues. only need a passport if your going overseas... if you are going to carribean, you dont 'need' a passport. it makes life easy but dont need it.

Check on this - when we booked Aruba we were told we wouldn't need one, but decided to get it anyway. I think now they are required.

Re: Passport/Honeymoon Question

Thanks guys. We're not going to the Caribbean, but to Canada. On Canada's tourism website, it says that U.S. visitors don't need a passport, but something to verify their U.S. citizenship like a driver's license.

Since my driver's license has changed (both in name AND state) I think I'll visit Canada under my maiden name since that's what's on my birth certificate and my passport. If anything comes up, we'll have the original of our marriage license with us.

I know. That's why I'm not going to use it. I'm just going to use my passport and my birth certificate.
