Murphey Florist - Karen H
Can you believe I am getting married in 25 days and I haven`t done flowers yet? I don`t need church & reception flowers so it`s not a big order but I haven`t done it and need to. I know your florist is in Bayside and I was thinking local is probably best since I need the flowers early. How did you hear about them and how did you decide to book them? You probably posted this before but with no old messages to search, I thought I`d ask. Thanks. Hope your plans are going well. Did your invites go out?

Hi Elizabeth; Yes, the invites went out, then Fi`s Mom called and said she forgot 3 cousins and thier spouses! Aaugh!!! Between her, and his father, they`ve added 20 people over the last few weeks. OK - enough venting :-) At least we have the room. Flowers - I asked our priest who they used for the flowers at the church, and he sent us to Murphy & Co. Kevin, the owner, is a friend of the priest`s - in fact, our priest was in Kevin`s wedding party as an usher. I liked the feel of the shop when I went in - a lot of creative displays. They seem a bit scattered and busy at times, and not real detailed in contracts and all, but I`m trusting in Father Tom`s recommendation and the thank you cards from the other brides that were at the front counter. I was a bit worried that they weren`t giving enough attention to what I was trying to describe in terms of what I wanted, but when Kevin pulled some sample flowers, he nailed it exactly. He`s using some eucalyptus berries and he bunched together some queen anne`s lace into a tight cluster between roses to give me an idea of what it would look like, and I think the bouquet is going to be wonderfully different, without being too contemporary and 'artsy.' I think it`s about $150 for the bride`s bouquet and $50 for the MOH and Bridesmaids - but I don`t recall for sure. There were a lot of 'regular' customers coming in and out buying flowers on every occasion I was there, which I figure speaks well for them, to have a regular clientele that comes back often. Try to go on a weekday or evening if possible. I've always had to go on a Saturday or Sunday which is not the best time to get their full attention. Good luckWelcome New Vendors
