We've picked the BM dress, and it's a Jim Hjelm. The store we went to, priced the dress at $230 w/$40 flat alterations.

Are the prices of BM dresses negotiable or set by the manufacturer? Would I be able to find it for cheaper somewhere else?

I think it varies from place to place. Give Phyllis at gownfind.com an email and ask her how much she'll charge for the dress. She usually comes in under many other stores.

i called burtons and got a great price from them... a lot of the bridal salons will match any price that you find...

You are welcome! I got my dress from her and she saved me mucho $$!! She gets back to you very quickly.

I called her at 9pm and she answered; gave me a quote right over the phone, and for $204...I'm going to check out a few more places others have suggested. Otherwise, if they can't beat her price, I'm going over there!

Wow, that was great advice, Hollie! We just spotted a Lazaro today that we loved, but it was near $300 - ouch!

Anyway, I was going to say most bridal salones will give your girls a discount if you got your dress from the same place.

I definitely 2nd Hollie's girl Phyllis at Gownfind. I emailed her and she got right back to me & will be able to save us almost 80. on our Alfred Sung dresses!!!

I think I posted this but did you call commack .. they give you the quote over the phone. You can do a no frills policy where you just order the dresses and then go pick them up.

Maxine! I just called them and they are literally two dollars cheaper than gownfind.com! However, the alterations are ten bucks cheaper....

RK bridal no frills in manhattan? I did not use them, but I know some girls here recommend them. Also, tell the shop you went to that you found the same dress elsewhere for lower and ask if they will price match.

go else where for alterations!!! My girls went to various places near there houses and paid between $10 - $30 dollars for alterations

Sometimes BM dress prices are negotiable if the wedding dress was purchased in the same salon. Either they will charge less for the dress or may not charge for alterations. coming from a retail family, it is always best to make the customer happy if they can.

I'm just a bit concerned w/the sizing and alterations - how did you go about w/the measurements? did you get them done somewhere or did them yourself?

We ordered the BM gowns from a salon and they knocked off $20 after I asked if they could lower the price since it was a large order....and I didn't get my gown there either. I don't think all salons are set, you should ask.
