Pls post pics of rings w/ sizer balls in them - PRETTY PLEASE!!! (also Commack Jewelry XChange q)
I'm leaving for vacation on Tuesday, and although I've been meaning to have the sizer balls put in my e-ring for 2 months, i haven't gotten around to it.
I just want to be extra careful while I'm out of the country, and I want it to be SNUG on my finger!!
Unfortunately, I can't get to my family jeweler (she's in Manhattan), so I have to get it done at the Commack Jewelry exchange tomorrow.
PLEASE, if you have the sizer balls in your ring, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post a pic for me! I want to bring it to show the jeweler, because when I mentioned it to him on the phone, he wasn't sure what I was talking about.
ALSO - if anyone uses the Commack Jewelry exchange often, WHAT vendor do you use?!
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!!

I would be interested to see this too. I have never heard of sizer balls.

never? I know several girls have them.
They get soldered inside the ring, so that you don't have to cut the ring to resize. If you eventually get larger (pregnancy), the balls just get removed - the ring itself isn't harmed.
Mystere has them - I've seen them in person, but I don't have a pic to bring the jeweler!!!

This is a pic of "shank pads", but I'm more interested in the balls/beads.

Shorty - your jeweler, any jeweler, should know exactly what you want. In jewelry terms they are called "shots" and are very easy to place (solder) and remove. They can be made in different milimeters to accomodate the size...but at my job they call them "small", "medium" and "large" shots...if your jeweler doesn't know what you're talking about, you should find one that's more knowledgeable in repairs, sizing and soldering since that's crucial to the preservation of the stone or stones...
Good luck!

shots!! Thank you!!!
I was hoping you'd be on tonight
eta: MY jeweler knows what they are, but I can't get to her this weekend!
I need a last minute sizing locally - and I must not have explained myself well over the phone, 'cause the guy at Commack J.E. didn't understand me.
Thanks again -
Also, DOES ANYONE USE A PARTICULAR VENDOR IN THE C.J.E.?

have you considered buying a CZ ring to go on vacation with? I'm probably going to do that when I go on my HM. It seems easier... even though I will miss my ring terribly while I'm away!

nah, no CZ for me. I'm headed to Italy, so it's not like I'll be in water, or at the beach or anything. We're totally insured, just in case.

A good jeweler should get those done in less than 3 hours...they really take about 30 minutes (or at least they do at my job) but since the ring has to be polished, the stones have to be protected and not everyone works as fast, I say 3 hours. So HTH! At least I know about something (even if insignificant)!

Thanks so much - I don't have 3 hours to wait around though!
My jeweler said she could do it in a half hour- i WISH I COULD GET THERE! (I'm 1.5 hrs away by car).
I don't really trust leaving my ring there for 3 hours with a jeweler I barely know...

Phew, soooooo glad to hear you have a good jeweler...yes, it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes! Girl, you have no idea the crazy jeweler stories I hear and then I'm like "is it because I'm in the city that XY and Z is different?"...nooo, it's cause some jewelers stink!
Get that baby done - make the drive and call it a wedding "must"...you have no idea how many Woodbury Commons and Riverhead Outlet trips we made from deep in Brooklyn for wedding stuff; you gotta do what you gotta do!
