Which comes first, flowers or bridesmaids dresses?

I'm pretty sure the color I want for BM dresses will be Celadon, but do I have to wait to speak to florists until after this is done?

I would get a swatch of the dress you want & bring it over to the florist. They can make better color decisions once they have the actual color & material.

I think it is helpful to florists if you have the color of your BM dresses picked out, so they can coordinate. But you can change your flower color scheme a few weeks before the wedding, so I totally think you can pick a florist before having a definite BM color scheme

I booked my florist before we picked BM dresses. I'm sticking to amethyst and antique gold, but if it changes, you can always change the color of the flowers. I have roses, so it won't be a big problem at all, and you have plenty of time.

However, there were many florists that said 'come back when you have your BM dresses' but I didn't want to lose out on the florist if they got booked for my date if I waited too long.

I booked my florist before I had the dresses picked out. I just told him what colors I wanted and he worked with that.

If you really want Celoden, all you have to do is speak with the florist and decide which flowers would match that color...

I am doing the bridesmaid dresses first even though I think I know hte color I wasnt is a burtn orange or a green you never know I mihgt come across adress and fall in love with itin a differnet color and then I would haveto change colors of flowers and all. I think its safer to get the BM's dresses first then go withthe flowers

We booked our florist a few months ago, even before I started thinking about BM dresses. We're using Burton's in Huntington Station. They said we can have any flowers we wanted and that we just needed to meet with them a month before our wedding to finalize colors, specific flowers, centerpieces, etc.

I'm sure if you let the florist know what color you were thinking of for the BM's that they could suggest flowers that compliment the dresses nicely.

This is what my florist suggested. I actually did the flowers based on the pic on the web for my BD dress then when I saw the dress with my gown, I had to change teh BM color and then re-work the flowers!! What a headache! Get the swatch first if you can...

I picked dresses first - Navy blue. It just so happens that that is the main color in the ballroom of he Temple where my wedding will be. The flowers will not be matching the BP dresses. I saw a bouquet that someone posted here a while back that was full of lavender, purple and periwinkle colors. STUNNING. It will coordinate nicely with blue - same family. However with a winter wedding, my flower choices may be limited due to season. Though I guess any florsit can get you anything as long as you are willing to pay for it.

We did flowers first, but I knew the colors that I wanted.

Thanks ladies. I'll see what the florists say, I don't think the gals will be going in for their dresses for a few weeks yet.
