Question about Paradise Bridals in Patchogue... Please help!!!

Hi girls:

As many of you know, Im from Staten Island. I went to visit my mom yesterday (she lives out in Medford)with my future sister-in-law & maid of honor. The four of us decided to check out a few bridal salons to show my mom my dress (she hasn't actually seen my dress yet - only in pictures). Anyway to make a long story short.. I found a tiara which at the time, I thought was beautiful, so despite the fact that it was the most expensive tiara they sold I decided to purchase it, so I put a deposit down & ordered it. The only thing that wasn't 100% about was the fact that the tiara was rather large & heavy. That was the only thing really bothering me about it. All day yesterday I kept thinking about this tiara and looking at a picture of it on my camera phone. (Quality of the pic I took was okay.. not so great). Now Im having 2nd thoughts because I really feel like the tiara I purchased is very big!!! It looks beautiful on.. I just wish I would have looked a little more and trued on a few different styles before rushing to put a deposit down on this one.

Anyway.. Now that Im having 2nd thoughts, I looked at the receipt to see their return policy and saw that there are no refunds on deposits. This doesn't bother me TOO much because I know that they have a rather nice selection of tiaras to choose from, so HOPEFULLY they will let me exchange it for another tiara. Do you ladies think they will let me do this??? Does anyone have any experience with Paradise Bridals.. Do you think that they will let me apply my deposit to another tiara???

Any help would be appreciated. This is really bothering me.. and I really WISH I HAD A PIC TO SHOW YOU!!! Every other thing I purchased for my wedding I have been completely satisfied and 100% about. This tiara has been on my mind all day today & yesterday!!!
What do you ladies think?

They may let you exchange it. Tiaras are a little different than say, a wedding gown, because if you change your mind they can always resell the tiara. I would call them tomorrow and ask.

Okay.. Now Im upset. I just called them and the lady that helped me (Donna) said that she placed the order this morning and once the order is placed, she cant do anything about it.
Wonderful. I cant even argue with this woman today because Im here at work right now. She asked me to call her in an hour to see what she can do...

This dont make any sense.. its just a tiara. I just want to exchange it.. NOT return it.

That's BS! I would demand for her to cancel it! Especially b/c she placed it this morning! Your wedding's more than a year away! Good Luck and keep us posted!

yes def. I would call her back and say to CANCEL the order- and you would like to go back to the store and look at others ones they have. Did you pay cash or credit? if credit I would say ^&*(% them disput the bill when it comes and tell them you dont want it anymore- if they are not resonabl w/ you

cancel the check- go to the bank- you have to pay a fee- but if there is nothing else you can do- it might be worth it

That doesn't sound like a bad idea!!! But, isn't that a breach of contract?? I hope they dont come after me & sue

Did you sign a contract with them about the tiara? If you signed something that said there were no returns/exchanges, etc... I am not sure if you can do anything about it.
Did you ask her about exchanging it or only returns?
If worse comes to worse, you could always sell it on ebay. You might not get all that you paid, but probably a lot of it.

my future sister-in-law is using donna, and i would see if she really ordered it, b/c her wedding is in sept 05 and they forgot to order her veil, so i would call back and make sure that they ordered it. i ordered my dress in the wrong color, and my place let me switch that, so i dont see why it would be such a problem. good luck!

Donna has been a sweetheart. I just think I rushed into buying the tiara. I wish I can show you this monstrosity!!!! I think Im just going to call and cancel the check. Boo Hoo I loose a $15 bank fee. its still better then wearing a tiara Im not 100% satisfied with. I just dont get how they placed the order already!!! I just gave them a deposit late Sat afternoon. Sun-Mon Im sure nothing was going on (The banks were closed) and I called first thing this morning to let them know that I wasn't 100% about my order. Could they be ???
