Place seating question?? little long vent

My mother in law to be has 3 tables to arrange (the other 2 were easy) she told me that it doesn't really matter were you give people a place card to they are going to sit at the table they want to sit at any way.

WOULD YOU EVER DO THAT?????

I am sometimes not really sure if she has ever been to a wedding before

She keeps saying well its a buffet and people are going to think that they can sit anywhere. this is not a picnic this is a WEDDING!!!!

She also keeps saying well its not a catering hall it is a vineyard and blah blah it is costing almost MORE money to have it ata vineyard.

With 10 days left of this i really can't take much more of this.

THe best is she keeps telling me and other people that she dosn't really know anything that is going on with the wedding (I have invited her more than 3 times to come out and see the vineyard and she never comes and I have invited her to see the dress at my fitting NEVER can come)

She also says 'I AM JUST GLAD THAT I AM NOT I AM NOT THE MOTHER OF THE BRIDE'

I am taking that comment as she is just jelous that this is going to be so beautiful and all she did was make candles.

THis week i am bordering bridezillaaaaaaaaaaa

thanks fo letting me vent

Re: Place seating question?? little long vent

no worries - just keep doing it your way and you will see it will turn out just right - don't let things bother you tto much - most of the time people have no clue as to what they say and how it affects other people - they just have diarrea(sp) of the mouth.

Ooof!

Oh my gosh i would never sit just anywhere!! It doesnt sound like she appreciates any of the time and effort you are putting into the wedding, that really stinks. Could FH talk to her about it??

Re: Place seating question?? little long vent

I think that your FMIL is misinformed. I have never seen people sit where ever they want when seating cards are provided.

sounds like she is just nit picking for the sack of having something to say about the wedding...since there is really no attention focused on her. I wouldn't worry about it.
Its your day. You have made plenty of effort to include her...she has decided not to partcipate.

Re: Place seating question?? little long vent

Ugh! I feel your pain!

My mom has 5 tables of guests. When I asked for and got her list of table arrangements, it included this:

Table 9:
Mom's Church Friends (10)

Table 11:
Dad's Work Friends (8)

Re: Place seating question?? little long vent

Sorry that you are going though this.

I DOES sound like she's a bit jealous or someting... I think she's UPSET that she's NOT the 'mother of the bride' It's all about YOU! not her! and she's probally jealous!

Re: Place seating question?? little long vent

Rough situation...You seem to be looking at it positively though (don't worry about being borderline bridezilla, we all can be at times). To answer your question, no I would never pick my own seat if one was clearly assigned to me! Good Luck

Re: Place seating question?? little long vent

I might be on the minority, but I wouldn't mind if my guests sat where they weren't assigned, as long as there was room for the other people. Most people will sit at their assigned seat while eating dinner, but if they want to talk with someone at another table, they might find an extra seat while everyone is up dancing. I don't see anything wrong with that. Besides, I would rather people have fun and enjoy the company of others than be miserable.
