NWR ~ Japanese Hair Straightening Repost from BHB
I have very curly hair and have always thought of straightening my hair, with the wedding/HM coming up now seems like the time to try it. Has anyone had it done? If so do you like it? How much does it cost?

I haven't had it done, but just heard that its a lot of $ and it totally dries out your hair. Also I heard (from my hairdresser) that when it grows in it tends to get nappy b/c it grows in curly at the top, from the roots, you know. it may look a little funny. I saw my friend who got it done, and it looks good, but very thinned out. I also know another friend of mine who got it done, and it totally killed her hair. It may not be worth it in the end. I would think twice about it...but thats just my opinion.Maybe just have it blown out.....? :)

Re: NWR ~ Japanese Hair Straightening Repost from BHB
I have gotten it done 3 times. My first time i was so pleased with the results. My hair was pin straight for almost a year. The only problem I had was I needed to use detangler because my hair got major knots if I didn't. The second time I did it the chemicals did not take as well to my hair. This time the process only lasted 6 months and I had quite a few s waves. I got it done a couple of months ago and i am not going to do it again until after the wedding. It is time consuming to get done and it is a lot of money. It's not for everyone but I have to say that I would probably do it again

2 of my best friends are hair stylists and make alot of $$$ doing this.I have asked both of them to do it for me and both said as a friend they won't do it to me. It is so horrible on your hair and really messes it up down the line.

These are the reasons why i did not have it done. I chose to get my relaxed by my salon. It takes about 1.5-2 hours and lasts 4-6 months, it cut down my drying time by 30 mins, plus it did not kill my hair. I have also my hair highlighted and the relaxer didnt interfere with the color at all... FM me if u have any questions!

Everyone says its horrible for your hair but what I don't understand it why? If you get it done at a salon correctly they will not do a 1/2 inch by your scalp so it won't dry your scalp out. It also grows out so your bottom hair is the part that is processed. Any new hair growth should be healthy. On the other hand for someone with curly hair you might need more touch ups on the top part than someone with just wavy hair. Def something to consider.

yes I have curly hair and to maintain it I would have to do it more often then most. They said the first 1 or 2 times its not so horrible but doing it over and over - over time it will damage your hair to a point you can not get your natural hair back.
It also dries out your hair and I already have dry hair. It would be murder on my hair!!

I had it done twice. The first time was a place in Queens which was really cheap, 150, but it did dry out my hair pretty bad. That lasted about 6 months. The second time I went to a better place, which cost twice as much, but i think they did a much better job! The top of my hair looks so much healthier than my ends. If you do it, you just have to make sure you take good care of you hair by deep conditioning frequently, etc. Saying all that, I am very happy that I did it. It saves me so much time to get ready and I think it looks good.

Sorry, I have heard only negative things, such as breakage, dryness and damage to the hair beyond whats acceptable.

i had pretty much the same thing mine was called Matrix, it has less chemicals. it only cost me 100 bucks with a haircut and blowout, it was well worth it.
