Oh, I have a good but stupid question about bridal shower gifts

Are you supposed to wait until after the wedding to use the gifts or can you use them right after the shower?

we havent used any yet, but thats because we had everything we need because we have lived together for 8 years, our gifts were basically just same stuff but new, so we are leaving them boxed up until we buy a house. Instead of packing the old stuff we will just throw it out. But i dont see why you cant use any of it. Go for it.

I think thats more of an old thing when most if not all couples did NOT live together before the wedding.

In this day and age anything goes
If you live together and need it why not use it??? We did!

you are supposed to wait until after the wedding for 2 reasons:

A. It's supposed to be bad luck to use wedding gifts before the wedding.

B. (very unpopular). In the event that a marriage does not take place, the gifts have to be returned.

I waited until after the wedding because I wanted to be a married woman before I used anything...I wanted that 'fresh' feeling...as opposed to the 'not so fresh feeling'... Ignore me, I'm silly! But I did wait!

We are moving into our new house during the course of our engagement. I had some old items in my apartment and I donated them. So, I will; use new items as I need them.

I really don't want to use ANYTHING unti after the wedidng, even though I have some gifts we could really use. The only engagement gifts we considered using were our judaic items, because we don't have any other seder plate, etc. but it didn't come up this passover because we didn't end up doing a seder at Fh's place

My shower was last weekend and I am already using some of my gifts.

I don't see any harm in it. We really needed some of the stuff so why not use it!

Ive only opened about 1/4 of them. The rest are still in boxes all over my house LOL
