Re: Mineola - Open house this weekend
My neighbor just listed his house for $700,000 in Mineola. I am thinking about putting up a for sale sign on my lawn during his open house! My house is bigger than his too! I can't believe it. But supposedly, the market increased 20% in the last 6 months.

My parents sold their house in Mineola a few months ago for about that. I was shocked they sold it so easily!

Lets just say someone sees your house and wants to buy it for $700k. Where you going to move to? You cannot buy a decent house for under $500k that isnt going to require some sort of work to be done to it. If you are happy where you are living, you should just stay there. A good house is hard to find

my dad still has his house there from when he grew up, there is practically no backyard but i'm sure the selling price would be around 400, crazy!!

Re: Mineola - Open house this weekend
ah ok. I have seen people do that though so I figured you were serious. When you goto an open house, check the houses next door to it, and if you see a for sale by owner sign on their lawn, it usually is because they heard home much the people were asking for their house and they want to get a piece of the action too.I guess you would really have to be willing to part with your house though

Re: Mineola - Open house this weekend
I live around the corner from this house. It is sandwiched in so tight to the houses next door. 25x100 is Really small. However, it's a very pretty, fairly quiet block (with exception to the airplanes). Right up the street from the Jericho Terrace. It's an excellent location for commuting to just about anywhere. Easy access to LIRR, Buses, Jericho Tpke, Old Country Road, Parkways and LIE.

I disagree. If you are willing to move farther out east you can get a great house that doesn't need work for that amount of $$. Just depends on where you want to live.

That's true.
My parents sold their house and bought one in Fort Salonga (Suffolk) with a lot more property (A LOT!!!) for about the same price. The house was in great condition, so they've put very little additional money into it.
