appliances (washer/dryer) paint, siding for house, etc.

Definately PC Richards - sometimes I don't know how they do it. You can even bargain with them.

Do not go to home depot. their delivery is horrible. We bought 2 appliances at the same time and had to have them come back multiple times for both, and then had to contact the manufacturer since the items were not functioning properly. The service company that the manufacturer sent out said they have heard the same thing time and time again about home depot. He told us that Sears, Lowes and PC Richard employ their own delivery people, so it tends to go a lot smoother. We now only deal with Sears, and have had no problems with several deliveries. One of my family members had a bad experience with PC Richard (they delivered the wrong model and argued with her about it) and DH is skittish about Lowes since we had such a crappy experience at HD.

Oh, we replaced 2 in the wall air conditioners this winter from Jay's on Hempstead Tpke in Levittown and it was a great experience. Very nice and professional. And since we did it off season, we got new ac for our room and the baby's room delivered and installed for the same amount that just the ac for our room (before delivery and installation) was in July. This winter we're going to replace the one in our guest room.
