sit down. But, there's no choice for the dish. It's chicken or a vegetarian option and I don't even know what that would be.

ETA: buffets are usually cheaper & maybe they can add something else other than chicken.

he said the buffet would be more because it's non stop food. Whereas with the plated meal, they just plop one down and that's it.

Planning these parties got me thinking. How low would a catering hall really go?

I went to meet with my cousin again about my MIL's 70th. I said, 'so, if we were to do this thing at 11 am on a Wednesday, in November, in the snow, without electricity, how low could you do it for'

He gave me a prerprinted sheet that said $24.95 + 18% gratuity. (he's waiving the tax because I'll give him cash)

This is for a Sunday afternoon in November. pasta appetizer, salad, chicken dish, and cake. coffee, tea, decaf and soda throughout. plus a champaigne toast.

I don't know if I'm being crazy, but I'm pretty sure they could go even lower than that...

I don't think you're being crazy...he could probably do a little lower. Although the no tax thing would probably be it. The 'preprinted sheet' is usually their sales minimum in order to make a profit. So if he goes any lower he won't make any money.

ETA: but nudge him anyway because they make enough money from couples who don't bargain!

Yes, it was (and still is) the same. That's so funny! I remember we had a 'Leonard's bride' post going...and that was before, when all you heard was raves. I stood there until I found this site...and I'm clearly not back to having a life, even after the wedding. Theknot did get complicated but I held on to it since I was a 'knottie' froom the time I got engaged in 2001 so it was hard to let go.

I knew you looked familiar...the name was the same...yeay!

I'm sorry to hear that it didnt' work out for a few recent brides (yourself included).

I mentioned some of the drama to my DH and told him how lucky we were. He said, 'No, it wasn't luck. You're crazy and you were mean to all of them so they were afraid to mess with us' After all of the drama with other vendors, I stopped taking crap from ANYONE

Francine? I don't remember! I did leave planning for almost 2 years...it got to be too much. But I do remember that NY bard being like P&E before P&E was what it is today...it was BAD! Brides posting pics of each other, job info, etc. Remember there was an attorney who's whole life was put on blast? UGH!

And they probably were afraid - but that's a good thing - apparently being nice makes people step all over you. It didn't work out for me, but I was VERY lucky that all I lost was my deposit...thank God my wedding wasn't ruined. And I feel terrible for brides who see the signs (changing the rooms on you - notorious for that and so bad), stick with them anyway and have bad things happen to them.
