Free Indoor Locations for Pics if it Rains....
Anyone have any suggestions of where to go for pictures if it rains--someplace that is free and doesn't really require notice too far in advance. I'm getting married this Sunday and I just found out that there is going to be a bridal shower in the room where I'm getting married right before me. We can't enter the hall until 5 pm, but will most likely arrive at the hall around 4:00/4:30 for pics. If the weather is nice, we can take pics outside on the grounds, if it's bad we're going to be circling the parking lot! I appreciate any suggestions
Thanks

Have you tried Dowling's Campus. I think they ask for a donation, but I am not sure they specify a dollar amount. They have beautiful Grounds depending on where your ceremony is, I don't know how far it is...Good Luck!

Unfortunately, they want $100 unless you are alumni

Also check because Dowling will not let you take pics if there is another wedding scheduled. I know because I am getting married at The Snapper Inn and I am worried too because our pics are scheduled at the Bayard Arboretum. I'm just praying for no rain

The Gatsby is right there and very pretty. I am considering if it rains just going there and buying a bunch of drinks at the bar and taking pics? They might kick us out! I am just convincing myself there will be no rain

The Holtsville Ecology Center has an indoor area to take pictures. It's free but you need to reserve the time. They take reservations in one hour blocks, first come first served basis. I reserved it on my wedding day just in case. You can call them up. The entire thing takes 2 mins to do.

How about CW Post? Hofstra? I think those are closer to Milleredge than Holtsville is...

Thanks for the suggestions girls! I think some of the places mentioned are a little out of our way though. Ideally we would need something between Astoria and the Milleridge. My banquet manager offered a room at the Milleridge Inn at 4:30, but if we're earlier than that I guess we're stopping for Starbucks! lol

Yes and your photgrapher must be registered with them.

Re: Free Indoor Locations for Pics if it Rains....
We spent our wedding night at the Marriott in Uniondale, and went there to take pics in between the church and the ceremony. I was devastated that we were not utilizing the $120 permit I had to take pics at the Planting Fields, but there was nothing I could do. The night before my family had dinner there, and we scouted some places to take pics, and made friends with some of the staff. They knew who we were when we walked in, and even the restaurant manager came out to get us, and told us to take pics in the restaurant before it opened. They were all very nice.

There is a $120 fee to take pics at the Planting Fields?

Yes, you have to get a permit from the Town. If you call Planting Fields, they can send you the permit request. I have sent in a request to get my money back. I hope they refund it.
