umm can you say scary

I was at my house this morning later than usual because the alarm company was coming this morning to install the alarm and i had to let the installer in.

So one of my contractor's painters comes in the house and starts painting. fine.

about an hour later i see a police car outside- im thinking- wow whats going on. then i see 3 then 4 then 8!!!

they knock on the door and tell me that a person fitting the description of my painter - black shirt, white van, ladder on the van - was spotted trying to abduct children a block away from my house at 830 in the morning (the time the painter came in!!!)

anyway, i got really freaked. to make matters worse the painter is an immigrant with no valid license. and he was in my house aline with me!

anyway, they question him and the head cop knows my painter and said hes a good guy and hes not the person, but just hpapeend to fit the description. also this guy does not speak english. also there are tons of white vans rolling around my city.

anyway, scary!

OMG!!! really scary... actually, my father always told me not to have anyone do any work inside/outside of our house if my FH or someone else was not around... I always thought he was being his usual overprotective self, but maybe not. . . .

After the incident in Westchester where the woman was raped and beaten by a worker in her home, I don't think we would consider having someone work in the house if it was just me around (even with two large dogs).

i would still be freaked out!!
besides, just b/c the cop said he knew him, wouldn't make me feel any better!! so, the cop 'knows' him, does that mean he's not capable?...and the guy fit the descrip. and the timing was too close...

i know.....good thing is that the alarm is installed now and the workers are finished.

how ironic that the alarm is installed today- of all days

That's really scary! I trust the workers at my apt complex, but that story will make me think twice about letting an outside worker come work when I'm alone.
