Talk to your FH about it before you do anything.....found out if any of FMIL's OOT guests are coming. Tell him what 's bothering you, and gauge his response.
It's completely wrong IMO not to invite OOT guests, and you FMIL should be asking your mom for a guest list, not telling her who she can or can't invite. There was a thread about this on the BHB, and a lot of brides flamed me for for my opinion regarding OOT guests and the reheasal dinner....but that's how it should be, that's how it always used to be. My point is that you and your FH (as a united front) need to approach your FMIL with your mothers guest list.

It doesn't have to be confrontational, it could be in the vain that you don't want to insult people who have spent so much money to come and share your special day.

Another thought is to simply have yur mom explain to fmil how importnat it is to her thta thee oot guestts attend...and then offer to pay for them. If you fmil is at all perceptive she will realize that the oot guests willbe there no matter what and may be gracious enough to accept what is relly her responsibility....it's really a riot isn't it?

Everything is expected to be pefect and therefore expensive for the wedding...and the groom's family pays for one thing and makes it difficult....talk about taking advantage....
