Rehersal Dinner Question...with a poll

First, How many people do you think you'll have at your dinner?

I'm guessing that with a 20 person bridal party and guests, plus family members that we will be around 50 or 60. Is this alot?

We have the opportunity to have it in my father's firehouse. We had our engagement party in FH's firehouse and I've had my graduation party there as well. The caterer would be our local pizza joint which I have been eating at LITERALLY all my life... very special to me. The costs would be much less than going out to eat....but just like the engagement party issue, someone would have to clean up. Last night, my bro offered to set up and clean up as part of our 'gift'... I would almost want to include getting a couple of waitresses to help with stuff too...but i am tempted. If I suggest this to FMIL....I think she may go for it based upon the money. I also would like it because it's down the block from the church.

What would you do?

Fire house or
Restaurant?

I think if you have the conection, use it! Why add extra expenses for no reason. Our rehearsal dinner is at the Chinesse Buffet. We wanted to keep cost down being its the night before a giant hoopla!

I am all for doing something that is special and meaningful. I don't think the setting of your dad's firehouse could be better....

and pizza is a great. you would really be breaking your bank to take all of these people to a restaurant....I say go for the firehouse!

Re: Rehersal Dinner Question...with a poll

Use the Firehouse...Having it in a restaurant gets to be so $$$...FH & I want to have it in my mom's house bc she offered! I think the firehouse will also be more laid back & people can enjoy themselves & talk...Remember your E-party was such a hit! Hiring some waitresses is not a bad idea either...They are not that $$ either...We are using one for my FSIL baby shower in June...I will get the info if you like!

definitely! thanks kissy!

oh, i should also say that the 'pizza' joint does regular catering...like last night's eggplant rollatini...mmmm...... so it would be like going out to a restaurant, and the hall isn't bad looking either.

FMIL will be inviting all out of towners too...so the number of people will probably skyrocket.

Re: Rehersal Dinner Question...with a poll

I would do it at the firehouse. don't have to worry about booking a restaurant and things like that just get food catered and thats so much cheaper

Re: Rehersal Dinner Question...with a poll

definitely go for the firehouse- it sounds really nice, and more affordable.

imo i would hire a couple of waitresses- well worth the $$

ETA- I forgot to answer the first part- not sure what our rd will be- that is the argument du jour can't decide whether to have all oot guests or just bp and immediate family

if i had my way, it would be JUST bridal party but FMIL has always been invited (and so have we) to out of town weddings AND their rehearsal dinners no matter what. and she always goes.... so i think we'll invite everyone....

i also like the idea of the firehouse cause then i can get house in like two seconds...if i am lucky on a firetruck!

Lisa,

I think you should have it at the firehouse. It will save money but also be special to you as well.
