Anyone had a swollen lymph node?

...and after a few days it went away.

Two days ago one of mine on my left side got swollen & hurt...I'm taking antibiotics now.
It feels better - but I've never felt this before and was wondering if this is normal - or if anyone ever gets these every so often?

Re: Anyone had a swollen lymph node?

My father actually just went to the doctors and inquired about this. He gets a really swollen lymph node in his neck. A few weeks ago he had a sonogram done on it to see what was going on. Yesterday the doctor explained that usually when you have an infection brewing this occurs. It is quite normal to have this happen. Stress will cause it too.

Re: Anyone had a swollen lymph node?

I had one a few years ago. It freaked me out because I felt fine for several days after it popped up. Then I got miserably sick- all I could do was sleep.

Re: Anyone had a swollen lymph node?

I had a huge bump on the back of my head awhile ago and finally had some ear pain too....i did not realize it was a lympnode that was trying to fight an infection and had swollen into the bump. Go to the doctor and get antibotics....swollen lymph nodes is your body telling you something is not right.

Re: Anyone had a swollen lymph node?

As long as it's pea-sized and moveable, it's a normal reaction to an infection and should improve when your infection has resolved. A node that is larger than pea-size and isn't moveable should be checked out by a physician.

Re: Anyone had a swollen lymph node?

I've had this on and off for quite some time- went on antibiotics, had the ear pain....
I finally went to a ENT and turns out it's not my gland that is swollen but the carata artery and in that very spot they call it the 'bulb' of that artery and mine is enlarged. Not sure why....I just had a cat scan, nothing showed up, have to have one in another 6 months and I guess deal with the throat/ear discomfort that comes and goes.

I had a similar situation. It started with one on my neck and then i got 3 more on my head that it felt as if someone beat me with a bat.
I freaked..because I had no clue!
I went to docs and got anitbiotics and it was my body fighting an infection that I got from a hair product!
It was getting severe. So yes, I agree...see a doctor.

Re: Anyone had a swollen lymph node?

WHENEVER I get sick, I get swollen lymph nodes. It's how your body wards off sickness. I have one behind my ear that basically is like my sickness indicator Depending on how swollen it is, that's how sick I am. It's weird, but it's your body doing its job.

Re: Anyone had a swollen lymph node?

Not to scare you...but my father had a swollen lymph node and after taking antibiotics for months, it became bigger and bigger. He went to another doctor and they took a sample (when it was huge) and found that it was cancer. The lymph node was taken out of his neck. His procedure goes on and on but he fought cancer and won!!!
