Re: price quote for home inspection...is this right?

That seems kind of high. I think we paid $300-$350 for a 4 bedroom two story house

They might contract out for the inspector and not do it themselves.

I agree, that seems high. We paid $425 for the inspection and termite inspection. It's a cape also.

Re: price quote for home inspection...is this right?

We had two inspections done on two different houses using two different inspectors. The first one was $425 including the termite inspection and the second one was $300 but they contracted out the termite inspection for an additional $100. I was much happier with the second inspection. FM if you would like his info.

They have to contract out the termite inspection. The laws changed not to long ago, and engineers are no longer allowed to do termite inspections.

The price is high, but are you getting a professional engineer or an inspector? A PE will be more expensive, but you should never use anyone who isn't a PE. We paid $495 for the inspection and $50 for our termite inspection.

We paid 320..asked 350 but fell in love with our daughter and gave a discount.

The termite is 75 extra by a different company.

Re: price quote for home inspection...is this right?

That does sound alittle high. We paid $400. Make sure your inspector is detailed. Ask him what type of report he gives, you should have a typed up very detailed report (around 15 - 20 pages). I know some of my friends who paid around $325 got these cheesy booklets from theirs, not very detialed or professional looking.
