BEWARE OF NEUTERING YOUR PUG PLEASE!!!
My mom's baby died today - a 10 month old pug. She brought him in for neutering and he had an allergic reaction to the anesthia. The vet did not warn her that pugs are at greater risk. Sam's picture is in my avatar. He was so sweet and loveable and I hope you all take note of this when you bring your short-faced dog in for neutering.

Anestesia concerns
A pug, along with other flat-nosed breeds are not ideal candidates for anesthesia – that is because the risk of death is higher while under anesthesia due to the structure of their face and head. Before agreeing to any surgery on your pug, always confirm that your veterinarian is aware of the specific protocol for bracycephalic breeds – your dogs life may depend on it. That is so sad and scary. It's amazing that the vet was not more aware of this!!! It makes you realized how important it is to question what your vet is doing.

Reading this just made me SO depressed. I feel your pain and my God I can not imagine what your mom is going through right now. That POOR thing!!..I feel terrible.
I have a Pug and he was already neutered and had broken his leg when he was younger and had to get anesthesia too. I guess we were very lucky after hearing this tragic news.
I will keep you and your mom in my prayers.

I'm so sorry to hear this terrible news!! My heart goes out to you and your family.
You will be in my prayers and I will spread the word about this!! The vet should of also taken this into consideration. What did they say to your mom?

Thanks for your support. They got a new pug yesterday - she's so cute. But it's still tough.
Her name is full name is May Bea Baby.
