More Shower Drama

I cannot BELIEVE I'm even posting this....

I'm looking for a place for MY shower somewhere around Rt 110 give or take E/W. Someplace that is less than $25 p/p (probably more in the $15 p/p range. They dont want it in a chinese buffet place my mom doesn't want cold food. Something cozy.

Apparently if I don't locate a 'suitable' place nobody is going to plan anything because no one can agree on anything.

They were going with Fox Hollow but it's close to $1500.00 and are asking my mother, FHs mother and a bunch of other people for money (as usual FHs mother has reneged and will NOT be giving anything).

I can't beleive i'm planning my own shower, but any help would be appreciated!

Re: More Shower Drama

Try Jackie Reilly's on Hempsted Tpke in Bethpage. I went to a shower there and it was excellent. Although I don't know the price per person I know there were a lot of options to choose from.

ETA: I cannot believe that YOU are planning your shower. Is there not one BM that you can pass the info onto?

Re: More Shower Drama

They want ME to find places and prices and then give them the information and then they'll pick 'The best way for you to be happy is if you pick the place yourself.....' I guess the 'I DONT WANT TO BE INVOLVED' screaming fit I threw wasn't loud enough

Re: More Shower Drama

First off, I CANNOT beleive that they are putting this additional pressure and stress on you to plan your own shower!!! Isn't it enough that you're planning the wedding?? Well, I was thinking but I don't really know the area (all I know 110 for is all the furniture stores we shopped in). Anyway, why doesn't someone hold it at their house? That's cozy and they can cook (or cater) whatever they want. Seriously, if everyone (except YOU) brings one dish and makes it a pot luck party then it's easy and inexpensive for everyone. It's really cruel for them to do this to you, I'm sorry!

Re: More Shower Drama

That's terrible! I just don't know what to say about my opinion of this without being terribly offensive, so I'll just keep me mouth shut and send you massive amounts of hugs!

Rosewood on Rte. 110 was pretty nice. Bertucci's is nice, but I don't think they have a separate room. Herman's Barello's is nice too (on Old Walt Whitman Road) but it may be expensive. Oh and hey, the Library Cafe in Farmingdale has a nice brunch - went there for Mother's Day once. Not on Rte. 110 but kind of in the area.

Did you want to go as far north as Huntington? If so, I have some I can recommend. Good luck!!

ETA: Oops. Didn't know about the private room at Bertucci's. That would be good, too, then. I like their food!

Re: More Shower Drama

Bertuccis has good food and nice people working there and they just opened a place not to long ago down the road where the japanese restaurant used to be cant think of the name though but it's Italian. I've also heard good things about Cafe Grappa on Hempstead Tpke. FH works off RT.110 occasionally on a bud route I could ask him about places he's delivered too and let you know.

Re: More Shower Drama

I am sorry but that is terrible. I cannot believe you are being pressured into doing all the research picking a place. There is no reason for this. I am sure you would be happy with whatever they picked. It sounds like to me that whoever is hosting your shower doesn't really want to be bothered with it and that is just rude. Sorry if I am being harsh but I really feel strongly about this. You must be so upset and I am sorry you have to deal with this.

Try Ayan's Shish Kebab in Plainview. They have a private room and the food is very good.

Re: More Shower Drama

I am sorry you should not have to plan your own shower but....
Bollingers on Main Street in Farmingdale- good food, reasonable prices

Jillians in Farmingdale- don't know about prices though

Cafe Testarossa in Syosset- Know a bunch of people who had wonderful showers there but might be a little pricey

Wantagh Inn- I went to a baby shower there, it was really nice and I know it wasn't very expensive

Re: More Shower Drama

Sorry you have to deal with this drama!

There was some drama early on with my shower but they managed to work it out amongst themselves but I know it made me feel horrible and your situation seems worse. Hugs to you! I'm hope things will settle down and go well for you!

Re: More Shower Drama

That's not cool at all! You should not have to plan your own shower. argh! I would definitely talk to one of the BMs or have someone else talk to them. That's just not right. 'because no one can agree' is not a valid reason. They should set aside their differences and pick a place that would best suit you.

Hang in there! Hope it all works out.

Re: More Shower Drama

WOW!!!!
I can not believe YOU are driving around LOOKING for places!!!!!!!

Who is charged with planning the shower? It should NOT be you!!!!!

We had our shower at La Violla, in Cedarhurst. The food was really good, and I believe it falls within your price range (though I am not sure of the cost). The food was really good there and the place was very nice.

La Violla
499 Chestnut St
Cedarhurst, NY
(516) 569-6020

http://www.greatrestaurantsmag.com/LI/restaurant_view/93/
On the website it says the average check is between $16 abd $18.

The Food was delicious, everyone said so!
