Inner envelope question.

What goes on them... Say for instance there is Bob and Susan Smith

Does in inner env. say???

Mr. and Mrs. Bob Smith (same as outer)
Mr. Bob and Mrs. Susan Smith
Bob and Susan Smith
Bob and Susan...

Also when the invite is mr. and mrs bob smith and family, do you list the family on the inner.. Even if it is like 3 children?

Re: Inner envelope question.

I am using Bob and Susan, and if kids are invited in that house their names would also be listed on the inner envelope too

Re: Inner envelope question.

I agree that is how I am doing it. I might address the invitation as the X family & list all their names on the inside. But the inner envelope should be more informal and that is where you would also put & guest

Re: Inner envelope question.

I just looked it up in my etiquitte book and it says either
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
or
Michael and Jane Thomas

Although I've received ones that say just first names.

Re: Inner envelope question.

I'm just going to do first names on the inner, LESS formal than the outter, it's supposed to be more personal. (i'm also hand-writing the inside)

Re: Inner envelope question.

for formal invites, the inner envelope would say just 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith'. in the case of kids, it would list them below the parents in age order:

Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Ann and John

with an informal invite, you could just put the first names of the invitees.

my calligrapher has a great page with all these rules:

hope it helps!
