I'm very excited!!!- UPDATE!
Ok girls...I know it may sound weird, but I am going to pick up my e-ring in about an hour....I went with FH to pick it out and everything (and our engagement is no surprise)...but FH wants to actually propose, which he hasn't done yet!so anyway, the ring is set and ready- but the place closes at 4 pm, and will be closed the rest of the week for Easter and FH can't get out of work (accountant + tax season= no way!) so that leaves me to pick it up.
So I will see it, but i won't wear it until he puts it on my finger....
I just can't wait- I choose a Ceylon blue sapphire center stone with a platinum antique style band with diamond side stones....I wanted it a little different..
I really can't wait to see it!!!!!

Re: I'm very excited!!!
Well, I picked it up and it is so much more beautiful then I imagined...I am so sad not to be wearing it, but I don't officially 'have' it until FH puts it on my finger...then I will try to get a pic....
thanks Ladies!

Mine wasn't a surprise either I basically picked it out and knew when it was happening! FH is not good at keeping secrets!

Re: I'm very excited!!!
Congratulations! Mine was barely a surprise. I mentioned that it would be great if he proposed on December 13, since we would be in the city anyway. Lol.

Re: I'm very excited!!!- UPDATE!
so, FH gets home while I was preparing a GREAT dinner, thinking this was it. (chicken parm, homemade sauce, ravioli, cesar salad-with HOMEMADE croutons!)I left the ring in a box on the table. He picked it up, checked it out-said he liked it then...
PUT IT IN HIS POCKET!!!!!
I never saw it again....I guess I am getting some sort of surprise....but I am torn- I am dying to wear this ring, but I am touched that he is still trying to give an air of mystery about it.

Re: I'm very excited!!!- UPDATE!
I am a modern bride and all but I am quite distrubed by your FH.
Why would you feel the need to pick up your own ring? Granted its a busy season for him at the moment, however PICKING UP THE RING IS NOT YOUR DUTY, ITS HIS! I understand you are excited about the whole situation, but I think you can still wait. If the store closes early, your FH could have very easily called the jeweler and made arrangements for pick. I mean his did pay $$ for it right? They woud do anything to please a customer that just paid top dollars for a ring.
Why did he tell you he couldn't get the ring that day?

I felt the need to pick my own ring because FH is an accountant that works primarily with clients in LI. He did call the jeweler, but it is in a jewelry exchange- the WHOLE place shuts down. It is quite impossible for him to leave work early during tax season and the store is closed the weekend for holy week. I told him that I did not want to leave it there- that was my choice.
But I guess it is mostly because I dont feel it 'his duty' to do anything. We have been together a very long time and I feel we are equal- it may not be what YOU would do, but it works for us. We are already getting married- the ring is a nice 'extra' but is by far a necessity for me.
Like people say- to each his own.

Re: I'm very excited!!!- UPDATE!
I don't know how you are holding up with all of the anticipation! I would be on eggshells if I were you!Congratulations and enjoy the moment! When it comes down to it, it doesn't matter who picked up the ring or who picked out the ring. It has to do with you and him and your 'individual' relationship you have together.
My FH works long hours as well, and I have been doing most of our house plans without him! You have to do what you have to do to make it easier for the other person!!
Best Wishes!!!!!!!
Let us know when it happens!
