Bring FMIL to shop for dress

I'm going Dress Shopping tomorrow with my mother and sister. Did anyone also bring their FMIL? I'm close with her and I know she loves looking at dresses but I don't know if I'm supposed to bring her also.

Re: Bring FMIL to shop for dress

i went once alone with FMIL when we were away for the weekend....we had a good time- at first it was awkward but she was more honest (in a good way) than even my own mother since shes didnt love every dress i tried on

also i wanted to since ive known her for 7 years and shes almost like my 2nd mom and she has no daughters of her own

Re: Bring FMIL to shop for dress

I included my FMIL in the last stages of choosing a dress. I think she felt good to be included.

Re: Bring FMIL to shop for dress

Yes I brought FMIL, I love her so much!

I went with my mom, my MOH and FMIL and she was a good honest opinion, and she's one of only 3 people that know what my dress looks like.

Re: Bring FMIL to shop for dress

I didn't bring her when I initally shopped for my dress. Just brought mom and sis.

MIL's granddaughter was a bridesmaid, so she went w/us for a fitting, which was in the same dress shop. I tried it on for them then.

Good luck,
Donna

Re: Bring FMIL to shop for dress

I brough FMIL with me. I went to a couple place with just my mom, especially the first gown )- it was a special moment for just her and I).

I have known FMIL since I was 5 yrs old. Plus she has 2 boys - I really wanted her to feel like she was part of the wedding planning. She may never get to help a 'daughter' pick out a wedding dress.

Re: Bring FMIL to shop for dress

Yes. My mom is deceased. I took her to a few salons on one day and in betweeen took her to lunch.

Turns out a few months later that one of her own daughters (married 12 years ago) told me that her mom really loved that I did that. FH was married once before and his ex never included his mother in even the littlest things.

Re: Bring FMIL to shop for dress

I asked FMIL to come, but she works on the weekends, so we couldn't get anything together....

After I had picked my dress she came to see it during my lunch hour one day....

FMIL is a sweetheart and she has no daughters of her own so I thought it would be nice to include her!

Re: Bring FMIL to shop for dress

It depends on your relationship with her. If you are close and you value her opinion than Iwould ask her to come. Otherwise you can just go with your mom and MOH and then take her to see the dress after you've picked the one you're getting.

Re: Bring FMIL to shop for dress

I brought my FMIL and 2 FSILs/bridesmaids to show them the dress after I picked it.
I had only my sister (MOH) and mother with me when I was looking. Too many people there can be overwhelming.

Re: Bring FMIL to shop for dress

I will invite FMIL to a fitting. I think it would bring her a lot of pleasure.

I want to go alone with my mother to choose my dress. I am not bringing my sisters because they tend to fight in situations like this. It isn't worth it.

Re: Bring FMIL to shop for dress

I went with my mother and my FMIL. I think it meant something to her. And I appreciated another opinion. It didn't hurt.
