NWR: Anyone moving to Florida after the wedding?

My FH and I have been looking for houses where we live in Redondo Beach, CA. Needless to say, they are outrageous. A small 3 bedroom with no property, butting up to your neighbors is over 650000. Even with the money I made off my condo, we will still have a huge mortgage for a nothing house. I would always have to work just to be able to afford the basics- let alone going out to dinner and travel which we both love.

So now we are looking into Fl- my friends just moved into a beautiful home in the Orlando area but I am a water girl- I need to be near a bay or the ocean- I have never lived more than 5 minutes from either. I am thinking about Tampa.

Anyone know of areas of Florida that are NOT retirement land and young people with families live as well????

You might want to look around South Beach, Miami. A girlfriend lives there, and i had a terrific time visiting her in August. That area has a nice nightlife if you want it, but drive 10 minutes away and its quiet and residential.

we are moving to north carolina... but fh's family is in coral springs, florida. it is very close to both fort lauderdale and miami, and is definitely a family-type place.

Check out Naples, FL (on the west coast). FH and I are looking into property there, it is sooo nice!

We are moving too....not right after the wedding but in a couple of years or so. Probably outside the Tampa area.

We're moving right after the wedding to Palm Coast, which is located on the north east part of Fla. - between St.Augustin and Daytona Beach.

Very afordable and many new families investing, including us, my FI's cousin and his wife and few other Queens families.

My mom lives in Ocala and my sister is going to school in Daytona. We looked into Melbourne which was beautiful but we wound up coming back to NewYork. I have family outside of Tampa in Wesley Chapel and family in Tampa. East coast in my opinion is more what your looking for that west coast. Good Luck!!

Yes it is.....and costs as much as a one bedroom appartment in brooklyn or queens!!!

Thanks girls! Its good to know I would meet great people like you if I moved down there. I hate the idea of leaving CA but I love Kristinka's house!!!!

I am moving!!!!! We bought at House in Hollywood Florida!!!, we are 1 1/2 miles away from the beach and found a wonderful house!! It is a great area... It is between Ft. Lauderdale and Miami... It is the best of both!

The town is amazing... THe Houses are not completely out of the ball park... and we have land!! Many of the places going up right now have no land,. we were able to get a 2,400 sq ft house on a 1/2 acre lot for $290,000!!!!

We have already put aout $50,000 into it.. BUt in the long run it will be worth it....
