Lady Question...Regarding Ortho-Tri-Cyclen?

Has anyone switched from Regular Ortho Tri Cyclen to Ortho Tri Cyclen LO?

I'm on regular now which works perfectly fine for me but I was thinking of switiching to the Lo to see if I retain less water.....

I'm wondering if this can take off the 5 pounds of possible water weight -- I wont' know until I try........What do you think?

I did and I was an evil b*tch from hell for that 6 months. It affects everyone differently but it did a number on me!! If the regular one is working for, I'd stick with it.

Re: Lady Question...Regarding Ortho-Tri-Cyclen?

I asked my dr. about LO because I was interested in switching.

She said that most people do not notice a difference between the two, except for some people that have a lot of breakthru bleeding with the regular. (I guess they don't get it as often on LO.) She doesn't recommend switching if a patient is doing fine on the regular.

On a separate note, she said that the reason LO so well advertised is b/c it has no generic equivalent, which I thought was kind of interesting.

Re: Lady Question...Regarding Ortho-Tri-Cyclen?

OK--Thanks ladies.....I will stick with regular then--I'd rather have the 'extra' 5 pounds than be a Royal B***TCH--Just no comparison there----

Thanks!

I tried the Lo and it just didnt work. I got my 'girl time' 2 weeks early... so the doctor put me back on the regular one.

Re: Lady Question...Regarding Ortho-Tri-Cyclen?

I am a b*itch with the reg. Could you imagine me on low???

But in all seriousness, it really does make you retain 5 pounds? That is insane, not only do we have to worry about the pill but also have 5 extra pounds I am carrying around??? I am coming back as a man!

Re: Lady Question...Regarding Ortho-Tri-Cyclen?

My doctor put me on the regular about 6 months before our wedding- it was awful because my boobs became huge (they hurt too!) and my dress wasn't fitting up top- i was ready to cry- she recommened that i try the low but i decided forget it- nothing was worth risking my dress!

Re: Lady Question...Regarding Ortho-Tri-Cyclen?

I was switched from reg to the lo and within a few months I started to have problems. The Lo didnt keep me as 'on time' as the regular. I was very unhappy with Lo and wsitched to LoOrval and so far am very happy with it

Re: Lady Question...Regarding Ortho-Tri-Cyclen?

I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen for about 4 1/2 years and then switched to Lo for 6 months...I didn't see a difference at all (I then got off the pill so I could try to have a baby)

Re: Lady Question...Regarding Ortho-Tri-Cyclen?

My Dr. switched me to the LO about 8 mos before my wedding because I was a smoker. But then I quit and never thought to switch back.

It made me break out again where as with the regular my skin was always clear. With LO I got my PMS breakouts back. I had break through bleeding the first couple of months and my period got slightly longer and slightly heavier. Oh yeah... and best of all I GOT PREGNANT ON IT.

Don't know why I never told my Dr to switch me back after I quit smoking.

Re: Lady Question...Regarding Ortho-Tri-Cyclen?

I was on OTC then switched to Ortho evra (patch) which I hated so when I was ready to switch back my doc put me on OTC-lo which works pretty well for me but if memory serves me right I never had a problem with the original either.

That was my first pill ever! It made my boobs bigger, but other than that, it was great!
