My weekend...part one! NOW WITH PICTURES!

So went to Simply Stems this weekend... and they were awesome. They are two ladies who have been designing flowers for years. They get their flowers from NYC and their work was great. They really took the time to understand my theme, understand what I want to do, and I have a feeling they will give me a good quote. Whether I go with them or not, I owe them because they helped me progress my theme.

It's interesting because everyone says that those centerpieces with the tall vase and the white tulips/callas coming out the top are like at least 75... but they didn't think it would be that bad. They didn't say 'ohhh french tulips will be too expensive'... they said, don't think about 'per table' - let us worry about that!

One woman was an art histroy major - and I showed her the dresses, the colors, etc. that I want to do to progress my 40's theme...and she told me that I was being historically correct!

They got me when I said I wanted to have a low CP of tulips that are actually five bo-k's that no one will see (so surprise at the end of the night, each woman at the table and take a bo-k home - I hate it when i love the flowers and want to take them but someone else beat me to it!). So, if you were thinking about them, you owe it to yourself to go meet with them. They were hilarious...reminded me of my friend and I when we get older.

Re: My weekend...part two!

So I know a lot of people say that you should look at one type of vendor (photog, video, limo, florist, etc.) and keep doing that till you are booked....but I can't do that.

I think I am a bit different because I feel the need to see a lot of different vendors all at the same time... like, I want to know when I book my photog. that they will work with the video guy - that the florist person sees the same vision as the dresses I am going for etc.

So I feel like eventually that I will be saying 'I booked 5 vendors this weekend!)...hahaha.

Ok, and the last part of my weekend - I met a really cute kid and her parents and I may be babysitting to get some extra money! I am dying for a part-time job!

That is awesome that your meeting went so well. Can I say that I love this idea of having 5 bouquets - so noone feels sad they didn't get the gorgeous CP!

there is no set way to book things...I can see what you mean about doing everything at once...This way you can see it all flowing together!

Glad you might get that babysitting job!

Re: My weekend...part one!

Ok Kissy... here you go!

The Bridal Bo-K

Purple Callas with Lemon Leaf Collar

Or maybe more like this...it's a bit softer...what do you think?

The Bridesmaids Bo-K's

Purple, White and Goldi Tulips arranged just like this

The dress I am addicted to.. very 40's, no?

MOH Bo-K:

White Callas, all Bout's and Corsages will be white callas too!

Low CP's

Same arrangement as BM Bo-K's but there will be 5 hidden bo-k's inside! Tall tapers around table too

High CP's

Not as full, but with white frech and dutch tulips and lilly grass and short pillar candles

Re: My weekend...part one! NOW WITH PICTURES!

And the only other thing I have to say is that they said that...

They make each girl's Bo-K to match them, meaning they are not interchangeable. They will make it so each bo-k looks the same but if you have a 5'2' girl and a 5'9' girl, their stems will be different and the size will match up for each of them.... I love this!

That's it - I was searching for the right word... It's so exciting!

I talked to Bravura this weekend too - and he gave me a couple of great ideas for my 40's theme. Tony was really nice and I can't wait to make an appt. to talk about it some more.

Re: My weekend...part one! NOW WITH PICTURES!

Ok, the other funny part.

I want to make my menu cards look like old playbills... and the woman had a collection of them and brought me in to her house to see it. Now I KNOW what a playbill looked like from 1940!
