I started to check out some Halls today!!

I know I have a little over two years, but it doesnt hurt to start planning early. This morning I went to Villa Lombardis and we fell in love. High prices, but awesome amounts of food, the staff was friendly and the rooms were awesome. I also liked the fact that the price they gave us for the ceremony included the decorations. All we would need would be the officiant. We were also told that their prices dont change depending on the time of the year. This was awesome because if we did decide to go with them we would change the month.

The second place we went to is fairly new, I think he said they have only been open for about a year or so. It is called the pine hollow caterers. It is a one affair place. I must say I was a little iffy about even going, but the price range we found online was good. We went and I do have to say, it is a nice place. The cocktail hour room may be a little small, but the person we met with was extremely nice. Since they are new , their menu may be a little small, but the pricing was great and he even threw in some extras. I am overly impressed by this place and just wish some of the other places we go to are just as nice.

Anyways, I just wanted to share my experience so far today. I am actually on my way to the Bridal Expo at Tall Grass and then to visit the Miller Place Inn today. It would be great if anyone could share their experience at any of these places.

Are they giving you good deals for planning so far in advance? I think we might have to move our wedding back a year.

Re: I started to check out some Halls today!!

Okay so now I am so happy that I am not the only 2007 bride.:) Well I just went to Tall Grass. Food was okay and the place was okay, although the set up of the room was a little wierd. The couple we were sitting with said that there are still a lot more things they are going to be doing to the place so it should look great after its all done.

I fell in love with the Miller Place inn. I met with Luanne and she was so great. She has been the only person who knew our names and greeted us so warmly. She told us that shes only had like one or two other couples looking for 2007 and gave us an awesome price compared to what some of the other places were giving us. The rooms are huge, and I especially loved the cocktail hour setup. I also loved the fact that they only hold one affair at a time, so for any of you that are still looking I would definitely check into the Miller Place Inn. :)

Re: I started to check out some Halls today!!

I think if they quote you a price for this year and you do the deposit you still get it for that price.

My parents went to a wedding at the Miller Place Inn and they liked it alot. I'm bringing my mom to the showcase at East Wind since I fell in love with the place at the last bridal showcase.

I definatly want places with one wedding at a time

Re: I started to check out some Halls today!!

I heard East Wind was nice, but a little pricey, I haven't checked them out though. I was under the impression that they had more than one event a day, which wouldnt be bad, but then I also heard of people crashing other peoples events . Good luck with them and let me know.

Re: I started to check out some Halls today!!

As far as I know they only have one at a time unless they have one in the inn and the other in the estate which itsn't too bad since they're not in the same building. I got a book which said they stared at $50 and up pp.

Since I will need to book soon I will definatly let you know. (I was told not to wait too long since it's memorial day weekend)

Re: I started to check out some Halls today!!

Hey ladies. Welcome and congrats!! Just thought I'd fill you in on the East Wind (if you were interested) because I was confused about how it worked before I actually saw it. There's actually 3 separate buildings- The Inn, The Estate and The Country Gardens. The Inn has two ballrooms- Northhampton and Southhampton that have completely separate entrances and parking. There is an indoor chapel for the Inn and an outdoor ceremony location also. They stagger the times and from what I here there really is no chance of running into another bride there because of the separate entrances/parking. The estate and country gardens also are each separate buildings that hold one event each. They too have an outdoor ceremony location but no chapel. The country gardens accomadates smaller parties while the Inn and Estate are for larger. I really fell in love with the place when I saw it. It was actually the first place we saw and after seeing a few more, nothing really compared for what we were looking for. Its really not as expensive as it may seem. We're paying $74 pp (plus tax and grat) for a saturday afternoon in June. If you have any other questions please feel free to FM me

Oh PS Kris, about memorial day weekend, you are right about booking earlier. We were originally looking for Sunday of memorial day weekend of 06 and this past August when we booked, we were told it had booked 5 months ago! Crazy I know. Good luck!

Re: I started to check out some Halls today!!

I went to Villa Lombardi over the weekend as well. And I too fell inlove. I've also been to weddings there before and not only do they give you a tremendous amount of food, it's really good for too! The people were great and I love the cocktail hour room. But I told them I was looking for a Sat in March 06 and they told me the prices are higher from March - October. For a minute I considered February but was too freaked out about the possibility of a blizzard. I'm surprised they told you the prices were the same. Do you mind me asking how much they quoted you? I think I have to go back there and negotiate a little bit! Thanks!

Re: I started to check out some Halls today!!

Thats odd that they said March through Oct they are more expensive. The lady we met with said that their prices dont change based on seasons. Friday we were quoted about 99.95 plus with a 150 min and then sunday evening was 89.95 plus with a 120 min.

There are definitely different prices for different times and days of the year. I picked Feb. at Villa's for the price. I love them also!! I went to the bridal showcase there last week and was blown away by how delicious the food was!!
