i am freaking out. please help me regain perspective!!
have you ever freaked out, knowing that you were being completely crazy, but still having no control? that's how i feel right now.got in touch today with the banquet manager at vanderbilt, who told me that my date just got booked for an afternoon wedding. apparently this is highly unusual, since all offices are open on saturday at dowling college, and there are cars in the lots, so usually saturday afternoons don't book... but mine did.
what this means for me is:
-i won't be able to get in for pics until 5:30, which is an hour later than originally scheduled
-my florist won't be able to use the premises 4 hours before to do my centerpieces, which he said he needed to do.
and now he is away until thursday, so i can't get in touch with him until then!!!!!!! OMG, panicking.what i can do to make this a little better is to move everything up by 1/2 hour - hospitality at 7, ceremony at 7:30, cocktails from 8-9, reception 9-1. but i am still 1/2 hour short for pics, which really bums me out because i REALLY want to be present at my whole cocktail hour. but i also don't want to rush the photos.
i know that i shouldn't be going so crazy over this, but i've completely lost perspective and i'm now completely in a panic over it.
help... please

Re: i am freaking out. please help me regain perspective!!
I know how you feel...my hall (Riviera) told me my cocktail hour has to start at 7 for now because they need to see if anyone books for during the day. They said if no one books 6 months before then we can move the cocktail hour up to 6, which I really want to do because the sun will have almost set completely by 7 in late September...it is like I am in limbo until 2 months from today!But...everything will work out in the end...try not to panic and focus on all the positives!

thank you for replying
i am sitting here trying to calm myself down and it really helps to hear that all will be okay...at the end of the day, we will all be happily married, and all these little things will be forgotten.
my panic is starting to pass a little...

As LP would say- breathe in and out very slowlyNow I would move everything up by that half hour and you will have an hour and half for pics. That is all I am having and I plan on being at the cocktail hour. It will work

Oh, I'm sorry
But you're right in the grand scheme of things....everything will get done. Your florist will run his tushy off, you MAY have to miss half of your cocktail hour but stand firm with your photographer and he can get you pics with your guests, and it will all work out the day of. One of those pain in the butt things that will defintiely creap up before the wedding. They say some only have one poopy thing happen, if this is it-woohoo!

It is completely normal to get freaked out, esp when a wrench gets thrown into your plans. Move everything up, and you won't even remember on your wedding day that you had to do that.Remember to breathe

What about using a separate location for at least some of the pictures? That way you can start them when you wanted to but keep everything else the same.

hmm... maybe the arboretum in great river, just a few minutes from oakdale? i've heard that it's beautiful there... there's also a nice beach at heckscher state park that we could go to, which might be cool. definitely a thought. thanks!!!!

If pictures are really that important, then consider seeing each other before hand...not ideal, but an option that many wonderul ladies are using. Even though I strobgly believe that 1 1/2 hours is enough for pictures...and yes, remember to breathe and relax - we're all here for you and we all have these moments...but somehow, in the end (and thanks to God) it really does work out!

we are definitely going to see each other beforehand, so that we can make it to the cocktail hour. i agree, 1 1/2 hours should be plenty of time for pics. if the photographer really disagrees, we will consider starting earlier somewhere else, like heckscher park or the bayard arboretum.
i guess what i'm still a little concerned about is the flowers. hoping that my florist will be able to make the CPs off-site...
thanks for the calming words

Re: i am freaking out. please help me regain perspective!!
Just to let you know- I am not guaranteed entry into the carltun until 5 30- depending on if there is a day affair.. so we shall see what happens.. But, you need to plan around it, come up with a game plan and for pics- see if at least you can get somewhere on the grounds. The other party will be over- see if at least you can take care of some of the real estate.this 5 30 business sounds like standard fare and your florist will be able to work with that time limit.
