I'm not complaining but...

ya know those people you invite that you know arent gonna come...well all my supposed to be NO invites are all yes
which means that is extra $$$$$ that we did not intend on having to pay
who expected my stepdads aunt who moved to NC like 10 yrs ago to come she even told my Grandma she didnt think she would and hopes I wouldnt be mad but then she called and said she decided to come now

Re: I'm not complaining but...

That's why a friend of mine told me that you shouldn't count on people NOT coming. Treat every invitation as a yes and as the no's come in send out invitiations off the 'b' list. I sense this problem because FH has a slew of relatives from Florida and all I hear is they 'probably' wont come...I'm not banking on the probably!

Re: I'm not complaining but...

this is why we cut out all 'courtesy' invites. I am budgeting for and inviting about 150 although the minimum at the halls I like are 75 - 115

Re: I'm not complaining but...

I'm trying to convince my mom to cut out all of these courtesy invites. If it was completely up to me, I'd just have immediate family and a few close friends.

Why invite Great AUnt and Uncle So-and-so that you never see and know nothing about?????

Re: I'm not complaining but...

Ugh, I can't believe I'm reading this when I just got off the phone with FH with a screaming match bc he does not give a you know what about my parents paying for most of this, he and his parents are sending out soooo many courtesy invites and they are assuring us they won't come, so I basically said, if they do come you're parents are paying for them..they are inviting more ppl than my parents, and my parents are paying for 90% of the wedding..I'm going to blow!!!!

Re: I'm not complaining but...

My advice to brides who haven't sent out their invites yet is dont do the courtesy invite because you just never know

Donna, how many RSVP's did you get so far??

Re: I'm not complaining but...

I had quite a few of those! People that my MIL swore wouldn't come were some of the first to respond yes. My ILs invited like 20 more people than my parents and my parents paid for the entire reception.
